The thing to keep in mind is what a huge advantage it is at state for 800 meter runners who DON'T also run the 3200. That's why Larson won't be much of a threat to win the 800. There are a few exceptions over the years in class A (Heen, Ihmels), but oftentimes even if a guy had the best 800 time coming in, the 3200 just takes too much out of him to compete with runners who are relatively fresh. I've seen it time and again over the years.
