At least with the current system, the travel doesn't get bad until the playoffs, and that is done on Saturdays. Travelling early in the season, even on Saturdays, is a severe problem for farm families trying to harvest.
Wouldn't DC be one of the least affected teams if they move to a 4 region format?
Being the farthest northwest, that's highly unlikely, but actually irrelevant. The point is valid for all teams, but more so for the west.

Anyone seen the latest plan with the 4 divisions laid out? Travel is now beyond a joke. DC is moving from the farthest trip at 130 miles to where that is close. Five of the ten are now greater than 200 miles, up to 265, and only 2 are closer than the 130. These games have got to be earlier in the day or at a closer third site. Sure we would travel 6 hours for hockey, but at least we would get 3 games in on one trip.
