Schwab I could not agree with you more. If these schools move up and go .500 they think they are not competing. Well... yes you are. Are you winning a State title every year... no but that is how it should be. That is competitive. Shanley and St. Mary's 10 out of the last 11 years either or both those teams have been in the state title game.

Well Played Packers... Well Played....
But Basketball needs 5 players and football needs at least 11 if not 15 kids to play at a minimum. And a good Freshmen who is not a generational athlete will be punished on a football field where on the basketball court they can play. Two different sports. To be honest I could care less if basketball had one class system.

I was a big kid 6'2 and 180 lbs Freshmen... Started... and held my own... but I listen to the hype and thought I could take on anyone. Well 220lbs of muscle senior... full grown man taught me a lesson. AFter a massive collision on a pump... Lights out.... As I was lying on the ground and could not feel the right side of my body (my arm was paralyzed).... I learned I was not made of steel. After 5 months of therapy... I had the use of my arm again.

I am fine to agree to disagree. There is a difference in "can play" because they are needed and playing because they are better than upperclassman. Whether or not their bodies are " ready for it", if they are playing and contributing at a high level they are varsity players regardless of what grade they are in. The coach must feel the same way if he is playing talented/athletic underclassmen over junior and seniors if their roster numbers don't indicate the need to do so. A grade level isn't always indicative of age. A graduating senior can range in age from 17 to 19 and I know of kids who are older than most of the kids in the grade above them because they started school later, got held back, or repeated a grade early on.
maddog1971 wrote:Nobody said that younger kids are not talented. Yes I know 8th Graders that are faster and are better running backs that kids that are Seniors. They bodies are not ready to take that type of abuse. Plain and simple. I think NC should just cancel the season if they don't have the kids to play. Playing 8th graders is crazy....
My whole point is if you have 40 to 50 juniors or seniors that it there are only a couple kids in this state who are freshman that would be able to take the jobs away from 40 or 50 11th and 12th grade kids. If a freshmen is 6'5 280 lbs and is built... yep he can play... a 5'4 110 lbs kid should never play middle linebacker.

Nope! They are out two weeks...with this week being the bye week. There is NO cancellation of a season for them...I'm tied to the school for another sport AND just received word from AD.
"FARGO -- The latest program to deal with a positive COVID-19 test is Shanley football.
The Deacons have shut down all team activities after they found a positive coronavirus test on the team, a source tells WDAY Sports.
Shanley will not be able to hold any team activities again until Sept. 30."
GF Red River game was moved to 10/3 from 10/2.
