Trenton just handled Tioga tonight. They were tremendously efficient. I think I heard 36-62 on the radio after leaving the game, and that includes a few misses at the end by some of their backups. The key of the game was Tioga's Brady Thompson. The game was a battle in the first quarter until he went out with his second foul. I believe it was 11 or 13-9. Trenton went on a mad run with their press and let after the quarter 28-11. Thompson came back in and handled their press decently, but then he made a jump stop in the wrong place and got a charging foul and went to the bench. Soon after, Trenton heated up once again and got ahead 47-16 by half time. In the second half, Thompson drew his fourth soon into the third quarter and once again Trenton heated up like crazy. It was amazing how well they shot with him on the bench. I'd bet their percentage with him out was at least 70%. They played extremely well and definitely took advantage of the Tioga weaknesses.
Against a physical team, foul trouble could be an issue as it seems they don't really look to their bench much. It will be interesting to see how they can compete in just their second ever trip to state.
