Velva should be ranked ahead of Bishop Ryan, they beat them last week!

That doesn't mean anything... Central Cass beat Carrington too and they are behind them. :?

Nice Poll - Although Kindred, based on previous games and head to head of others, should be ranked #1 (if it was like the BCS in football, they would be #1)

It's too bad all these teams can't get to state. Either Central Cass or Kindred won't make it and only 1 between Grafton, Thompson and Central Valley will make it. Same with Velva and Bishop Ryan.

Big game this weekend with Grafton vs Central Cass -

Carrington played like the #1 team on Thursday night against a really solid Midkota team in Binford. Solid defense, balanced scoring...11 threes.

Minot Ryan's problem is their schedule. The only real threat they've played was Velva and they got beat. If they get to state their weak schedule is going to hurt them.

Hard to say who the #1 team should be at this point, but I am telling you if Carrington plays like they did Thursday night, they'll be tough to beat anywhere. Reminisant of their state run last year.

THe top 10-12 teams in the state are capable of beating each other on any given night...Very balanced field this year. Too bad at least half of them are going to get eliminated for state.

Somone explain to me how CC is still getting a first place vote?

Poll looks pretty good. A case can be made to make Kindred #1 and a case can be made for Velva to be higher...definately ahead of Ryan. And Grafton is probably playing better than anyone right now...Other than that, it looks pretty good...

Looks like all the Ranked Teams are really getting it together at the end of the year. Grafton I have heard is playing better than anybody in the state right now but you look at Kindred being the explosive team they are. Tied 10 to 10 at Nepolean last night after 1 and at half they are up 41 to 15... wow. I hope all the ranked teams make it so we can see they play each other in state but we all know that will not happen. :?

Definitely agree...Kindred is playing great...Grafton and Carrington playing well too...New Towns schedule will hurt them in the end. agree Velva should definitely be ranked ahead of Ryan, but would guess they'll be playing again soon. Can't wait to see how these regions shake out as it looks like only half of the ranked teams may end up in State...There is a definite separation this year between the "best" team sand the next level. The team that gets hot will win it all..

Looks like 7 out of 8 regions represented in the poll...If seven of these go plus Napoleon,Linton or Ellendale, from region 3, we'd have an awesome State tournament! I'M sure there will be an upset or two though...What a fun time of year!

I still think New Town will get upset by Watford City in Regions

Wow that's a star-studded group.

NodakQ2 said it best - there is a huge separation between the top teams and next level.

Unfortunately three of the top ten will NOT make it for sure. Either Kindred or Central Cass will not make it - same with Bishop Ryan and Velva - same with Grafton and Central Valley. And Wartford City may press Newtown for another spot.

Districts and regions is going to be great.

I think Watford City is sneaking in under the radar a bit. 17-2 with the losses to Beach (down 2 at half) and New Town right after Christmas. They have been playing well and went to state last year. Haugeberg is as good as it gets and Allex has had an excellent year. Add in 8th grader Katie Mogen (13-14 ppg) and they could make some noise.

IMO...I think they will be state bound and not New Town

watfords a good team...I actually thought they'd be in the district 15 championship game but since your quote, they've been beaten by new town again and by parshall. watfords achilles heel is no height. parshall broke thier press (which is excellent) and posted the two 6' packineau girls inside and they were just too much for the lady-wolves. but i do agree that watford is the team to beat simply because one can never count the defending 2011 district/region champs out...

Watford has not been beaten by New Town twice (as of today). They have lost 3 games Beach, New Town, and Parshall in the district tournament. They will face New Town in the region semi's tomorrow. I agree they do struggle when their press does not create turnovers and easy transition points.
