In district 12, it really surprises me how the 5 and 6 seeds can get two players each but both the 3 and 4 each get one. I know there were more deserving players on those teams than some that made it.

The biggest omission for District 5 in my opinion is Zac Stemen. As a fan of an opposing team, I will tell you how much of a force on both ends of the floor he is.

I hear ya. I thought for sure Ryan should have had another one or maybe two. I thought there was a player from Berthold that should have been on it. I think there was a player from Mohall should have been named probably. This list doesnt make sense.

IMO, I think to make the all district team, a player should be able to start on every team in the district. If a team loses by 25 in the district title game, you probably shouldnt have 4 kids named to the all district team. Just my opinion.

I'm assuming that the teams are selected before the championship game, but it was rather interesting when DLB had 4 players and Berthold only had 2, after seeing the way Berthold dominated the whole game.

The voting takes place by the coaches before the district tournament starts. And I forgot to mention how the 2 seed gets four and the 1 seed gets two. If that happens, one should assume that the 2 seed can play the 1 better than they did. Although, I'm pretty sure their first matchup did go to OT. Not sure if there was foul trouble or anything like that though. Also, in the title game, Berthold came out absolutely on fire and no one besides Edwards on DLB could do anything, but still

i agree there was a couple kids on the all distric team that wouldnt start on the top 3 teams in this distric. as im sure this happens in other districs as well. and yes i know every team gets a repusentative and i am not talking about those kids.

but anyhow hopefully this forums doesnt turn into bash session. congrats to yale for distric player of the year and interesting to see if him or mccloud win region player of the year in region 6. (i assume mccloud was distric 11 player of the year?)

Ben Sunquist got robbed. The # 1 team in the district, who is undefeated and just won the championship by 30+ points should get 3 players. However, Maple Valley, who choked against Kindred and ended up with the 3rd seed, is the only team to get 3 players. I don't care when it's voted on, Central Cass deserved THREE players. Doesn't make sense, but these district teams rarely do. I vote they do away with them altogether.

Notice that District 2 only has 11 members to their all district team, though Matt Zimmerman was introduced as the 12th member and senior athlete of the year. Ben Sundquist clearly belongs on that all-district team. It must have been a clerical error.

Agreed on all acounts here. Absurd that Maple Valley got three players. Oak Grove goes undefeated last year and they get 4. Central Cass goes undefeated this year and gets 2. I also don't like how they try to represent every team for the all-district team. Pick the best 12 players in the district and be done with it. If two teams get a total of 8 of the 12 players, so be it. If those 8 are 8 of the top 12 players in the district, then they deserve it. The all-district team is almost becoming somewhat of a joke.

One thing...not every team in District 2 was represented this year...no NC or FSHP players.

Northern Cass would've had one, but their best player (Hill) was ineligible for the districts.

The thing is that some coaches understand that the best need to be on the team....and others do not. Sadly, the ones who do not 'get it' are often the coaches of teams that finish perennially at the bottom of the standings.
In 5 years...no one except the individual remembers if the made the AD team...but we always remember which team made the state tournament.

I agree. Some coaches who are near the top have to fight to get a few while other, much lower seeded teams, get a few that may not be deserved. To me it's another example of sports being a good model for life: put good people around yourself appear to be an average individual and excel as a group or be a standout in a mediocre group. I, for one, hope the players on good TEAMS understand their value and are not bitter about the individual accolades. Most team players are, although I understand the frustration they must feel!

In the district 2 proceedings following the championship game, Zimmerman was already announced (5th or so) with the other all-district team members. THEN, he was re-introduced as the 12th member of the same team and also District 2 POY. Only 11 players were named with Zimmerman being named twice in the post game ceremony. Hence, I believe a clerical error was made in not naming Sundquist to that team.

He was ineligible for the district tournament? This isn't a tournament team, it's based on the season. Or he just became ineligible for postseason awards due to an infraction of rules?
