Mott vs. DC

Postby footballfanforever » Mon Oct 24, 2011 10:34 am

What does everyone think here? Was pleasantly surprised with Mott going to Mohall and getting that one. They will be playing with a lot of confidence now and with nothing to lose. I have seen them several times, including the first time they played Divide, and think they could knock off DC with their passing game. I know Divide won earlier this year, but Mott was able to move the ball, just didn't finish off drives. I think this one will be a tight game, and I'll take Mott in the upset. I might be a little biased since I'm from the area, but should be a fun game to watch.

Shame I missed the first match up this year, but one thing is for sure, the DC guys have gotten better every game. You've got to be impressed with how hard they hit and run through people. With the DC home crowd and from what I remember Mott-Regent travels pretty well, this one will be intense. The edge still has to go to DC. They'll win by 1, possibly 2, TD's.

I believe DC wins this game. And here is why. If you look at season point differential DC is way ahead at 288 to 109. Big margin there. Also look at the previous match-up. Mott scored first and then DC reeled off 28 unanswered points. DC kept them out of endzone despite Mott's 256 yds. of passing. Mott only had 36 yards on the ground. DC stopped Mott from scoring from the 2 yard line. DC had 392 yards rushing on 67 att. for a 5.8 yard avg. In the second half despite knowing what DC was going to do Mott could still not stop them. DC did not attempt a pass in the game. All this after traveling 340 miles to get to Mott.
This game is in Crosby and I believe DC will rise to the task.

Yes we did. We will not travel on Hwy. 85 because of safety issues.

I actually heard that DC did go through Bismarck when they came down here last time due to the bad road construction around the Watford area. Have not heard yet which way Mott will travel up there this time. Does anyone know if the road construction is still as bad as it was. We have heard of very long waits earlier this year.

It's still horrendous and will be for a long time. They are doing construction from the Missouri River bridge just outside Williston to almost Alexander if memory serves. The movement is slow with a speed limit of 25 for 10+ miles and it's bumper to bumper the whole way.

Bad news out of Mott. the Dickinson Press is reporting that Mott will be without 3 starters for the DC game. Injuries are taking there toll.

DCFAN---I've heard as many as 6 starters are out. Those 3 linebackers with injuries from last game and a few that didn't even suit up for the MLS game.

How do you think the outcome will look now?

3 starters out. Greff, Vesledahl and Haberstroh. All 3 linebackers on defense and RB or receivers on offense. 2 others that contribute on defense. That is what the coach said in the interview.

Outcome. You tell me.

not cool to have injuries this late in the year. There will be alot of "what if" I feel for the kids. Best of luck to both teams. I know nothing on either team so no prediction from me.

I heard Mohall-LS had a little bit to do with causing a few of those injuries i.e. dirty hits etc.

Not for sure, just some grumblings I've heard from very reliable sources.

Cold and windy in Crosby today. Perfect conditions for Divide County's pounding ground game. DC by 20. 8)

MR qb 200+ yds in 1st q, 3 TD. DC won't be stopped on the ground, except when they fumble. 24-16 MR

or 40, 70 - 30 Final. M/R looked like they came to play in the first quarter, but the DC body blows were showing in the second and it was all but over by half. Way to go DC!

Go to http://www.willistonherald.com/sports for the breakdown of this game.
40 point second quarter seals win for DC. DC made defensive adjustments towards the end of the first quarter and that turned the game around. QB Schweitzer from Mott is the best I have seen. He was lights out in the first quarter. Putting the ball where only his receivers could catch it. Plus there was a strong wind also. But once again the physical play of the Maroons wore down Mott early in second quarter and this game was over.

I'd have to disagree, he was throwing up ducks and Mosbrucker was winning the jumps. Our guys were getting too focused on the pick and they lost sight of their man.
I will agree with the second part, once Schweitzer was under pressure in the backfield and they started running to protect him, it was all over.
It was impressive watching the different style attacks, air and ground, and how quickly the game changed. DC's dominating physical game, on both sides of the ball, was the difference. Awesome!
