hillsboro does not have a chance. i would say W/L by 30

We were all saying that about Napoleon vs. W/L last week...anything is possible.

I picked Napoleon.

good to hear...MOST people were saying that W/L would win by a lot (I was one of them)...it just proves that anything is possible when the playoffs start.

Nobody thought WL had a chance of beating Hillsboro by 40 last year in the playoffs. To say Hillsboro has no chance is just, well, uneducated.

Greatest chance of an upset in the east in this order IMO
Lamoure over NB
SB over Cavalier
Hillsboro over WL
NRS over Napoleon

Don't know much about the strength of 9 man teams, but here's my picks. Based simply on who held their opponents to the fewest points during the year.

Opening Round complete. Some good games, but only 1 roadie was able to get a win. Mott/Regent over MLS. 8 teams left & I believe only 7 losses between them. Should be some great matchups next week. On another note I would love to have someones's recap of the North Border - Lamoure game. Definately looks like the game of the day.

The NB- LaMoure game was very good. The first quarter started off slow with a 0-0 ending. In the second quarter Lamoure got some offense going starting on their own 30 after a NB punt ran some powers for good yardage and eventually into the endzone for 6 and running a shotgun QB scramble for the extra point. Then NB's next posession they scored on a 60 yard sweep to the right and flag on the conversion no good. 8-6 at half. NB gets the ball at half was marching, fumbled on lamour's 30 yardline. The next score was on fourth down at the 3 yardline for NB and they ran a play action pass to a tight end out route for the score. 2 point conversion was good. 14-8 end of third. Ball went back and fourth and with 1:04 to go lamoure scored on an out route making it a tie game. They kicked the XP to go up by 1. The Eagles ran a few pass plays, getting out of bounds and calling time outs along the way. With about 12 seconds to go the QB for NB fit a pass between two defenders and the sidelines for a NB touchdown making it 20 to 15. Game Over.

I was at the South Border-Cavalier game. Cavalier was just better all the way around. They tackled and blocked better and made big plays when they needed too. South Border made a poor decision with 1 minute remaining in the 1st half on 4th and 10 from near midfield they went for it and didn't get it. Cavalier ran a few plays and scored a TD right before half. Others have mentioned how fast Cavalier was, well that didn't stand out to me. They just ran the ball really tough, they didn't go down on first contact. I was most impressed with #9. They list him at 155, but he plays a lot bigger. Defensively SB had a hard time getting anything going. I think their longest run was around 5 yards. They passed well at times, but nothing sustainable and the wind didn't help either.

As for my picks. I thought the Napoleon and Wyndmere games would be blowouts, I thought the Lamoure/NB game would be a toss up and if someone would have put a gun to my head I would have picked Cavalier over South Border, but I have a lot connections to that area so its hard for me to pick against them.

The Great Pass for the win (Stockton NB) isn't surprising, he's very smooth....sounded like a great match up in Pembina.....
Cavalier could have easily held SB to Zero, if they had they would still be under 100 point allowed after 10 games.
I had a feeling sooner or later Jacobson was going to hit an open man for 6....He's a great passer....
Ryan Chrest had a nice game to lead the Tornadoes to Victory and Johnson showed some true power running the ball......
Hartz was slipping on every run .....he will definitely need to get his flat tire fixed, or it will be a long Saturday next Saturday!!!....Kudos to the Boys with big Arms and big Hearts on Defense....its what wins the Big Trophy .... 8)
