I think it was Paige Nustad from Bismarck who left the Belcourt game injured. I hope she is back for state, but Rylee Meier stepped up w// 22 pts off the bench.

Watching South vs. Jamestown. South has no depth and Roehrich plays no defense. That's the biggest difference between her and Farroh.

She only plays 36 minutes a game and i think has a pulled groin. H ow did Farroh do last weekend at the edc tourney against south? Bruins in the semis for the 4th consecutive year!! Hats off to jamestown, very scrappy team.

Way to go Jamestown...those girls played a great game against a tough team. I know some of the Jamestown girls and they are a class act...good sports in loss and defeat. And how about those Shanley Deacons... another great game. Some super threes by Carlson...and I heard that Kenney has been sick most of the week....if that is her playing sick....watch out! She is on fire. I love watching all these great girls play with such spirit and heart....good manners on and off the court.

^^^^ Haters gonna hate :D . South looked sloppy again. Jamestown did play well. Shanley played like usually, vey very consistent in the post-season. North, well i had a feeling they were going to pull an upset from the get-go. Bismarck almost figured out how to play Farroh and her knights. I'm glad the easts won, but at the same time I wanted to see east vs west. *walks away from computer and cries in the bathroom*

The first day brought some good performances.

I thought Roehrich and Felch looked great on offense for South. Roehrich has a way of getting to the line.

Shanley's Carew was tough, as wa North's Dehne and Larson (who was limping after the game).

Farroh, Hammer and Fee were on for Central. They really D it up.

Who you taking in the semifinals?

North vs Central- big upset, unless Larson doesn't play for North, then Farroh will dominate

South vs Shanley- this will be a really close game, Roehrich and Fisher will get their points, I think Felch and Koenig will be key for South

When was the last time there was an all region sweep in the first round? And when was the last time the east did it?

I think it is a toss-up between Shanley and South.

I do think Central will win... But I have to say that Alyssa Dehne has played GREAT these past two weekends. She elevated her play and without her North isn't even in the state tournament let alone in the Semifinals. If there were a tournament MVP my pick would go to #5 from North.

Ya dehnes been a stud, shes been a star not only offensively but defensively too, had 5 steals yesterday, could've been more easily with all the tipped passes. if Kira can play at full strength I think North will keep playing hot and dehne will find a way to get it done.

I agree though that Shanley south will be a toss up, could be best game of the tourney

Century is a good team, but North looked better the whole game. Century tried to rely on their outside game and it worked in the first half. North (Dehne) kept it close at the free throw line. Century could not get their inside game going, plus Lopez and Larson shut them down inside. I personally think Century did not take North seriously and were looking past them, after having beat them earlier in the year. I expected more from AJ Johnson, she struggled too. Their coach and fans yelled at the refs the whole game, obviously frustrated.

I think North is the only team that got both their boys and girls through with wins on the first round! Good luck to North, everyone counted the East out before they even started!

Classiest thing I have seen in a really long time came at the end of the BHS/Century game. Century was up by 20 with 20 seconds left to go. BHS put Paige Nustad in the game knowing that it is her last. Century inbounds the ball and gives it to BHS who then throw it the length the of the floor to Nustad but the ball goes out of bounds. One of the Century girls told the ref it went off of her so it is BHS' ball under the basket. CHS backs off and BHS inbounds the ball to Nustad and she scores to a standing ovation by both crowds.

A great act of sportsmanship for a senior!

Shanley's D was tenacious today. Only allowed 16 pts each half. A number of blocks/steals. Roehrich looked like her groin injury may have been affecting her. Great game. Stats don't truly tell story- site says kenney only had 5 assists, but number was easily twice that. Great ball movement on Shanley's part. Carew, Weir, Storandt, Rivard- all had great impacts on the game. Carew with 21 points was incredible, but the other players named all made big contributions with clutch shuts, great defense, and hustle.

On the North side of things, Dehne and Larson are an incredible duo. Came out on fire and never looked back. Feel bad for Farroh- 21 pts with limited touches. Would have been great if she had gotten the ball more.

Tomorrow should be a great championship!

Couldn't agree more with soccer09....Shanley was just on fire...all the girls individually played their best and as a team they were cohesive and at the top of their game. This kind of victory is possible when great girls work as a team and do not worry about their personal stats. Shanley's fans are intense but that is what the State Tournament is all about! Good luck to North and Shanley tomorrow.
