I think that question is very much up in the air. Some teams, depending on their match ups, might choose to throw someone lower on their rotation.

It might be interesting to see who teams like South or Mandan decide to throw early in the tournament.

I don't see Devils Lake performing as well as they did in the EDC tournament. The WDA shouldn't have a problem with them.......but then again, West Fargo was supposed to either. Speaking of WF, they better get their heads together because they are going to get rocked if they play like they did in the EDC tourney. I see South winning it all. They've played really well this season, and when they're on, they are easily the best in the state.

matchups and predictions
round 1
mandan (jungling) v rr(anderson) = mandans offense just a bit to much = 4-2 mandan

bhs(richter) v devils lake (janzen/boehmer?) = bhs comes back from losing in wda and wins = 9-4 bhs

south (hochsetter) v williston (hanson) = south overlooks williston and throws hochsetter but still manages to win. = south 4-3

century (leapaldt) v west fargo (strahm) = century bats come alive = 8-3 century

round 2
mandan (flaa) v bhs (zorn) = matchup between two good pitchers, defense key, bhs has a better one = 3-2 bhs

south (ersnt) v centruy (bihrle) = south does the smart thing and throws ernst (2-1 south), they dont and throw acter (3-2 century), they are smart. = 2-1 south

final
south (acter) v bhs (deyle) = south offense to much = south 6-3

Couple items for input= WF bats will come alive and WF will beat Century as I can not see Century scoring more than 3 runs on Strahm.

And the Fargo Forum states that Hochsetter will be sidelined for the tournament with a shoulder injury. South will probably throw Ernst first game, Wawers the second game, as Acter does not pitch. The 3rd game for south will be Lawley, or Venaas with Ernst as backup. The second round mactchup could be South VS WF and will be a close game. If south can win that one they will win the championship over Bis.

What's that supposed to mean? Strahm is one of the best pitchers in the state!

First game today Century beat West Fargo 13-3 in 5 innings. They pretty much took it to Strahm from the beginning of the game. West Fargo had their chances but couldn't cash in a couple times they had the chance.

Second game was between Bismarck High and Devils Lake. BHS handled them 15-3 in 5. Devils Lake made too many costly errors and didn't have a chance the entire game.

Next game was Fargo South and Williston. After 1 1/2 innings there was about a 15 minute rain delay but both Ferring and Ersnt stayed on the hill. Both guys were impressive, struggling early, they were able to grind it out till the last few innings. Ersnt with a walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh off of CJ Vinger. South wins 5-4.

And in the night game it was Mandan and Red River. It was a pitchers duel with Ryne Anderson and Reid Jungling. Anderson gave up Mandan's only hit of the night to Dwight Mack who singled in Brett Bryan in the only run of the game. Jungling only gave up 3 hits. Mandan wins 1-0

Tomorrows matchups.

11:30 Red River vs. Devils Lake

Followed by Williston and West Fargo.

4:30 Mandan vs BHS

Followed by South and Century.
