I would say that both teams are playing there best football right now. For Devils Lake to win they would need to play a near perfect game like the did against Wahp. Shanley was able to beat Trinity even though they barely should up the first half, I think that this show when they do show up they are a good football team. I would have to say that Shanley will take it but it will be a very close and competitive game and could go right down to a final drive by either team and someone will have to step up and make a big play.

toss up call at the end of the half in the endzone...I thought Rodenbiker had the TD (one foot down and possession in the endzone) then DL's DB ripped the ball out after Rodenbiker was spun around on the ground...called Interception. Anyone else see the play? Anyone know what the ruling is and if it was called correctly??

7-7 at the half

I'm not positive about the ruling but I think it was called correctly as an interception. Rodenbiker tried to rip the ball from the DB as he came down. I think if he had just came down with their arms tangled it would have been a touchdown.

First ever game in Dakota Bowl history to go to OT.

Dan Jordan of Shanley kicked a Dakota Bowl Record 41 yard FG in the 3rd Quarter.

Shanley's first title since 1983.

GREAT GAME!!!

Yes a great game by both teams, it was unfortunate that one team had to lose but DL came out with the short end of the stick. "game of the decade"??? .....it was flat out amazing :!:

It was an amazing game but in my opinion, Shanley looked like the better team.

Quarterbacks were pretty even although I think Montplasir played a little better. Erickson hit the deep balls well but Montplasir killed Devils Lake on the ground, and it seemed whenever he needed to make a throw, he did. I was very impressed.

Runningbacks were also pretty even although I think if Shanley's D would have filled harder there would have been a lot less broken tackles. Ben Wolf didn't nessacarily look like the best player in a region to me, but he still played well.

Wide Receivers were pretty equal. Rodenbiker made some great plays but Mertens was burning Shanley deep.

As far as lines go, I think Shanley had a slight advantage. I was amazed that Devils Lake's coaching staff didn't change something on defense. For one drive Shanley ran the same option play 7 times in a row, just flipping sides. I think the 3-4 defense was the reason for this success. Shanley doubled the nose, got to the backers and just went to town on DL's ends.

And how about Shanley's kicker? I think he could have made that field goal from 48.

All in all, it was a great game played by two good teams and what a finish. Too bad Devils Lake got greedy and tried to win it quick by going for 2. I would have liked to see what happened if they had kicked the extra point and the game went on.

You have to gamble to win sometimes. That was a great game. 75 from shanley is a beast. He played really good. Swenseth from dl had like 8 tackles. Jason berg from dl played a good game offence and defence. That one option killed devils lake. If you watched the replay of shanleys touchdown in overtime you could tell that they were two yards short.

No disrespect for the shanley kicker, but he isnt the best kicker in the state. Andrew Nelson from Saint Marys is but far the best kicker, he made a 29, 40, 35 this season and only missed 1 extra point the whole year. Also he is the second leading point scorer on the team. But good job shanley on their win. Great game to watch

I watched Shanley's OT touchdown many times and I don't know what you are seeing to say it was two yards short?? In any event it was a great game. Both teams deserved to win. Shanley was able to stop the two point conversion because Wolf was forced to turn it up. Great job by whoever Shanley had that did his job and forced it inside.

I think Shanley's kicker played soccer and then after soccer season joined the football team. He came along ways and his upside seems bright. He definitely made a difference in this game.
You gotta believe

Watch the replay again...Montplaisir took the ball from his RB at the very last second and put it in the endzone
