is that analysis valid when shanley still didnt have players back from injury also? you can't allow for injuries on one side without allowing on them for the other. id rather see analysis of playing styles

Went to the South-Shanley game last night. Wow is this a good weather season for soccer or what?
South scored first but was very flat- did not control play, their trademark passes were horrible.
Shanley scored to tie, and came alive for about 20-30 min, but scored again and went into the "defense for 60 min" game plan, and fizzled apart.
South scored again to tie (looked like off Shanley defense for an own goal to me), and played much better in early second half, but also fizzled apart. Missed 3 goals: early a post, also a crossbar, and breakaway by orson who shot it right into goalies chest (??). Orson may score, but he can miss great chances too- 2 times vs West Fargo, one vs Shanley. Both games ended as ties, not wins....just sayin

yea but when you talk about playing styles, you have to take into affect about two of the most important players, and richter and kahler are one of the two most important on south. im just providing a possible explanation to the lack of south's success in the game.

I agree, south did miss a lot of chances in the second half. Orson has to start finishing on EVERY opportunity if they want to start winning games. should be a very interesting game against central tomorrow though...

big night in the edc
North @ shanley (a must win for north if they want any kind of a shot at making state cause shanley has played one less game both teams need a win north needs the win more)
Red river @ south (south clinches spot at state with a win)
West fargo @ gf central (huge game for both teams. WF needs a win to keep up with south if WF wants first place in edc)

South losing to Bismarck 3-1 and beating Century 2-1 is good news for South.

Anyone care to comment on game play: how did the teams match up, etc?

You just can't tell team strengths by these scores. Anyone NOT from Bismarck knows losing a game reffed there is a given anyway, so only losing one is fantastic for South.
--and state will not be in Bismarck this year (though Bismarck refs will likely be there anyway).

Bismarck high looked pretty good in their win over south
south on the other hand looked terrible (long bus and homecoming night before maybe a problem)
south better in second game century looked good as well

Yes this is true, shanley and west fargo tied 1- 1 and south scored a late goal to take the lead 2-1 over north which puts north 1 point behind shanley which means they are out of the state tournament this year.

So...The four teams from the East will be South, WF, Central, and Shanley. Though not necessarily in that order. South has wrapped up first though.

Did Central beat Shanley today or what?

That game was important on the bearings of state.
