I caught some action from Devils Lake this weekend. My thoughts:

1. This year's champion will be DL, Grafton, 4Winds, or Kindred.
2. I'd like to see the region challenge/play in games be decided by some sort of power poll points. Meaning this year we'd likely see Region 2 vs Region 3 and Region 1 vs Region 4.
3. West has enough talent to pull off an upset here or there, but not be able to win it all.
4. When was the last time we've seen impact players switching schools (Larson & Starcevic).
5. If those 2 stayed with the school they played for last year, those teams might have been able to challenge the top 4 teams.
5. State tournament will be exciting. Just wishing it wasn't in FargoDome! Move it to the SHAC and there will be ZERO complaints. The NDHSAA would be showered with compliments if they would do this.

Grafton likes to play fast and can shoot the lights out.
Kindred likes to slow it down and will be as near healthy as they can be.

Neither team is very deep...should be a fun one!

I think we can all agree 1-4 are the best 4 teams in A. Is there a team that could be in there at 5 instead of Beulah, another team from the East maybe someone that has losses to only those top 4. I don’t have anyone in mind, just appears the East is dominant for sure.

Beulah has beaten Central Cass, Wahpeton & Valley City from the east who are probably the next tier. They had a really bad shooting game vs. Devils Lake...if they meet again I don't think it'll be a 30 point game again.

Beulah also has wins over Stanley, DL-B & Shiloh from the West

Beulah is the only team you mentioned that I haven't seen live, but I'd take both Shiloh and Beulah over any of Valley City, Wahpeton and Central Cass. Each of those east teams have played some combination of Kindred/DL/Four Winds and got boat raced every game, except VC gave Kindred a good game the first week of the season when Kindred was trying to integrate a bunch of guys that had never played together before. I'm not even considering Wahpeton's win over Four Winds since Deng didn't play.

There is no easy win among the top 4. Kindred stands alone and then the next 3 are fighting for their best game when they meet each other.

I think those top 4 are a toss-up each game. Maybe Kindred and DL have a very slight edge but it would not be wise to expect them to pull out all the close matchups with these teams either. IMO, if Kindred loses it will be because they have a bad shooting night. They can hold everyone down defensively, but scoring can be a challenge at times for them. If the brackets lay out right, the semifinal night of the A could be awesome even if it's in the dome, and that's saying something!
