An early guess (I would know more in October):

1. Wyndmere-Lidgerwood
2. Milnor (Kristi McCloud returning will help the Bison)
3. Oakes
4. Lisbon
5. North Sargent
6. Sargent Central
7. F-C-T
8. Hankinson

I think Lisbon will suprise in District 1. Althought they bring everyone back, the freshman are the ones to watch. The older girls never learned how to win. Not a problem with the upcoming freshman.

Also, North Sargent should have a healthy Peterson and Sargent Central will be another sleeper.

Milnor also has a healthy McCloud, it was like she never even tore her ACL. good for her!

Do you think anyone in District 1 will be able to compete with the top end of District 2 this year (Central Cass, Kindred)?

I honestly believe Milnor is the only District 1 team that could compete with the likes of Kindred or Central Cass. Quite frankly, I'm not sure anyone in District 1 or 2 can compete with Central Cass this year.

Central Cass will be fun to watch this year... different style of play with Ryan Mears as the head coach. There will be more up and down the court and less "force the ball to the inside" approach. Looking forward to an entertaining season!

Do you think Central Cass will really switch up the style of play that has gotten them to state two years in a row? Would Mears be making a mistake by doing this?

not with the girls they have there this year...I think it will be a beneficial switch for Central Cass. Still need to mix in some of what got them there...but if CC is out and running they are tough to stop.

Agreed. No more Taylor Kraft on the inside, so no need to get the ball into her. Let Hannah Breske do her thing! :D

Kraft never really did anything inside...she liked to shoot outside too much. I think this year's team might be more complete.

A lot of CC's plays were geared towards getting Taylor the ball (wherever she was on the court)... we won't have that this year. I think that CC will be a better overall team this year as well.

Sorry, we have hijacked a District 1 topic to talk about a District 2 team!

It is easy to say Central Cass was all Taylor but that there real strength was on defense and that is a team effort. I hope Mears pushes the D as hard as Kraft did and the rest will take care of itself. I don't think they were ever given enough credit as to how tough they were on D. It was basic-no press and play man-to-man, old school and they were good at it. They will have depth but they will be have some rough spots early but by the end of the season they could be very tough.

I agree that Lisbon could be a surprise. I wouldn't turn my back on older players, but the younger players could give Lisbon a lot of depth. Along w/ Milnor, they could be competive with the top District 1 teams.
CC is beatable. Kraft did not allow a player "carry" the team last year. That's tough when you have a kid that's an all-stater. They had to rely on their depth to get into the State Championship last year. They will have a lot of talent, but it will be interesting to see how the new coach controls that.

Im not sure if I'd rule out Hankinson at number 8 Run. They have a pretty solid group of athletes. FCT Shouldn't be too terrible either.

Basically 6-8 could be anyone...Sargent Central looked better this summer from what I could tell. W-L is kind of a :?: in this district...I am just not sure where they fit.
