region 1 - Kindred (They lose only one player from a very talented team)

region 1 should be interesting again from what I have watched. kindred, central cass and oak grove have got lots of talent coming up

Oak Grove's talent is on the varsity this year...but they do lose Logan Selisker (a big part of their team). Kindred loses ONE player (and she doesn't play that much), they will be a force in District 2/Region 1 next season.
Central Cass has a good JV and will re-load their program after they lose 4-5 seniors.
Northern Cass is also REALLY young this year, they should be pretty good too.
Richland returns Junior Olivia Johnson (over 1,000 points and over 1,000 rebounds) and a young core of players.

Central Cass loses four seniors, three who actually play (two start). Taylor Kraft will be tough to replace, but the Squirrels will be good for many years to come.

3 seniors that play? what about the 4th one? Seems odd with a lot of younger talent coming up that a senior would sit the bench and not play, is she injured for most of season?

I agree with Kindred. They have a very talented team.. and will be tough contendors on the court.
Oak Grove has an awesome JV and i know will be tough.
Richland has Johnson and Kinneberg who know how to play.
Milnor won't have a bad team either. Sure they lose 4 seniors, but they have Halvorson, Ellefson, McCloud and Sakry still.
I think North Sargent might be a threat towards the end of the season when they will have Peterson back.

it should be very good competition I agree but without seeing all the games and all the teams I still have to believe that Central Cass should be pretty good with a 18-1 record this year in JV and an 18-1 record with sophmore starter, junior starter and coupld sophmores and juniors coming off the bench this year?

Kindred has a 15-3 record (losing to Milnor and Ada/Borup (MN) early in the year...and pushing Central Cass to a 35-41 result) with 1 senior who sees minutes here and there, 4 juniors, 7 sophomores, and 3 freshman.

http://www.ndhsaa.org/team?team_id=295

I'd have to imagine that Kindred's JV has 1 or 2 losses (since their whole JV plays Varsity also).

happened to be at the kindred / casselton game and casselton played very badly, not say that it was not because of kindred's defense but in my opinion the game would not have been that close if casselton played the way the usually do/can do. not sure on kindred jv record but that night casselton jv beat them by 10 or more if i remember correclty. should be interesting!!! getting excited already for next season now!!

I'd have to say Napoelon will be good. They lose 3 seniors in Schmidt, Laber, and Gross, but there sophomore class right now is tough! They'll have returning starters in Dewald, Weigel, and Young and their 6th person off the bench with Schmidt.

Grafton will only graduate one senior starter. And I can't say for sure, but I think their B squad was unbeaten or maybe had one loss. I know Grafton's B team beat Central Cass. I would think that they would be a favorite to come out of Region 2 next year.

yes grafton's b team beat central cass at buzzer after trailing most of the game so very competitive in future i would imagine. that is the one loss of central cass's if i remember correctly hearing. not sure if grafton's b lost any games this year?

And I can't really remember, but I think Grafton's B team might have lost to Crookston or East Grand Forks? Not sure. And only one of the B girls will move up to A next year.

Carringtons jv beat them also.
Carrington next yr? Return there top three players with a good jv team.

I stand corrected on Grafton's B team, didn't know they lost to Carrington. And sometimes it's hard to tell with girls teams who might be coming up. Look at Thompson last year. Used 2 or 3 eighth graders to fill up an A squad team and ended up making it to state.

The biggest asset for CC is the coach. She turned a very soft program into what it is today. How long will she stay with her daughter going off to play for MSUM?

I don't think she stays very long.

Agreed-- Napoleon will be tough. Losing Rikki Schmidt leaves some big shoes; her little sister seems to have a lot of the same athletic attributes so she will bring a lot to group. Dewald, Weigel and Young are also very experienced- and work well together.

Ellendale loses 6 seniors- but their B squad did go undefeated this year. The younger Schmidt from Napoleon played against Ellendale's B squad as well as Jangula. I believe Ellendale JV won in OT. They should be good contenders in Region 3 next year (as well as LHMB).

I don't think she stays very long.

She could do what her husband Tim did after their son Calvin graduated and coach one more year. I believe that is highly probable, but I would like to see her keep coaching she has done a great job at CC.

My guess it will depend on if Taylor redshirts at MSUM next year or not.
