If this is true, does this mean that Shauna Long has a good chance of being the top career scorer in Girls B History???

The most points I've seen is 3,148 points in Girls Class B basketball by Fischer from Bowman County.

Is Long a sophomore or a junior?

Start as 7th grader is usually a good start.
This may be a little harder to believe: Sari Noga, Parkers Prairie, had 2800+ points and 1300+ rebounds entering her senior season. Parkers Prairie is a Class B size school in western MN.

Well she averaged right around 27 a game through regionals, which would put her at 648 points in 24 games... plus add the 56 she's scored so far at state which brings her season total up to 704... so if she did have around 1,000 as a sophomore that would put her at 1,704 as of right now... she's a probably a little higher than that even I bet because she's averaged in the mid-to upper 20s for at least the last two years, don't really about freshman or before someone can comment on that....

If she hit 1000 at the beginning of her soph year, she could have scored another 500 that season. So she could have around 2200 right now. Would basically need 1000 pts next season to break the mark. Might be a bit out of reach...

well that depends on how close she actually is... everything is speculation but if she did have 1,000 going into sophomore year and is now within 600-700 points of the record it's possible... that all depends on how high her point total is now though... ???

Since you list yourself from Standing Rock, is there anyway you could find out the exact number for us? It would be awesome if you could!

So she needs to average 38 points a game (assuming they go to state). I would say possible, but not going to happen.

I would love to see it happen, but I agree that it would tough unless they play a bunch of teams who have never heard of her.

most likely not, because Standing Rock is playing pretty much the same teams as last year.
Some of them are not the same but still, most teams around here, know, Watch for Long.

but some of the teams in that region still know about Long...but don't have the talented defender to shut her down

I say there is about a 99% chance she doesn't do it. 38 ppg is almost physically impossible.

I use to think that she scored all those points simply because there weren't any talented defenders on her, but then she would put up huge numbers at the State tourney.

well there is a good chance she could break 3,000 i mean it wont break the scoring record, but at least she'll be up there.

I watched Long play against Kenmare 2 years ago and she only had 8 points going into the 4th quarter. You know why? She was guarded by Kortnry Miller and until Kortney left the game with a sprained ankle she pretty much nullified Shanna Long. Just goes to show a good defense outweighs a good offense. You have to have balance.

long was only a sophomore.. i believe she has grown stronger and more capable of scoring more than 8 points. it was two years ago?? thats a long time.

That was a while ago, and last year she had another great state tournament. I am curious on how many points Miller had for Kenmare. To stop Long, you have to have someone on her the whole game, and coaches hesitate on putting their best offensive players on her because they need them to score. I agree that balance is important, but you can't win if you don't score. Even a 2-0 defensive game is won by the team who scored the basket.

Well its a new season, Standing Rock opens up with Hazen, then Beach, then travels to SD for the Lakota Nations Inviational, then travels to Oregon, for the Lake Oswego Tournament. All i know is, they're going to be playing some tough teams on the road, but in it will show what they need to work on. Come tournament time SR will be a contender for the State title! :D
