Oak Grove lost 57-40 to #6 Dickinson Trinity on Friday night and defeated Bismarck Shiloh Christian Saturday afternoon 63-32 at the Shiloh tourney. One bad quarter did the OG in on Friday...take away the 2nd quarter and its a pretty decent game.

OK, is Hankinson getting worse as the season goes on, or is Oak Grove getting better? Or is it a combination of both? I can't believe Hankinson only beat Oak Grove by 10.

Central Cass plays Oak Grove on Friday.

Chloe Wahl scored a team-high 14 points as Hankinson defeated Fargo Oak Grove 51-41 in North Dakota Class B girls basketball Tuesday.

Logan Selisker scored a game-high 17 points for the Grovers.

H 15 31 43 51
OG 11 24 30 41

H: M. Titus 2, C. Titus 3, Stein 11, Wahl 14, Geffre 11, Pankow 10.
OG: Selisker 17, Forness 9, Kozlowski 4, Brady 4, Holt 7.

OG is getting better. They are not a very talented team but Coach Bledsoe is changing the atmosphere of the program. He has instilled a new attitude and culture of accountability. This years team (with less talent) is competing and winning games that the previous teams and coaching staff could not.

Don't book rooms for Minot yet, if they don't figure out how to beat Hankinson records mean nothing.

LOL...Central Cass is a talented team and should book their rooms, but read the cancellation policy! Simply because Region 1 is the toughest region to come out of.

Believe me, I have seen our teams get 2nd place a regionals a few too many times to book my rooms yet. But I can still hope!

I see that FSHP avenged their earlier loss to Northern Cass.

FSHP 9 19 32 52

NC: Ward 5, Holmstrom 9, Zieske 3, S. Lako 21, A. Lako 5.

I think now that freshman Hannah Breske is starting on varsity and no longer putting minutes in on the JV, Central Cass has really improved. I look forward to the post season!

OG is quickly becoming a team to take seriously in District 2. A strong and smart coach can really turn a program around.

Oak Grove plays 4 more games this season, 3 of which are against district 2 opponents (Jan. 29 vs. Maple Valley, Feb. 1 vs. Northern Cass and Feb. 4 @ FSHP). Winning 2 out of those 3 would be a huge boost and winning 3 out of the 4 games will give them the momentum going into the tourney.

Wow! But if you are only going to put 39 points up, then it can get tough pulling off a win at this time of the year. Region 1 is always wide open which makes it the toughest region in the state to win.

Hankinson played aganist Wyndmere/Lidgerwood without two of their starters. Mara Pankow is out with a sprained ankle and Chloe Wahl was out sick with the flu. Also two others that come off the bench were out sick with the flu. Hankinson still should have not lost but a few loses right now is what they need to get back on track mentally.

How much impact do those 2 have on the team? I guess I was just looking for the Geffre & Titus names and saw that they played.

Pankow is their starting center so without her in the middle of the lane shots were able to be put up easier (I assume) and Wahl is a scoring threat

Hankinson did not play very well this time nor the first time they played Lidgerwood-Wyndmere....and that time they had ALL their girls. Lidgerwood-Wyndmere was also missing a starter who is out ill, plus their record does not indicate their true talent level. They have been going thru a tough season trying to adapt to the new co-op and also to a new head coach which was sprung on them just before season began.
It is true, though, Region 1 is definitely full of teams that can surprise. I do feel, though, that Central Cass is probably the strongest team in region 1.

Central Cass captures the # 1 seed in District 2, FSHP is #2. It looks like Northern Cass is still struggling - I am assuming Sam Lako is still injured.
