I agree Sam is good kid and Parshall could challenge for Region 8, but I watched them play in the YMCA league in Minot, that was won by Kenmare once again and they must develop a lot to take the next step to be competitive against the likes of Kenmare, Hazen, FLPR or Standing Rock. There is some very good teams that could return to State that played in last years tourney and this could cause problems for a team like Parshall that hasn't won the District in many years.

Parshall needs to worry more about Stanley than any teams from outside their District. Parshall has some great tools to work with, but the history books suggest Stanley is a heavy Region 8 favorite. I do wish Sam and the gang luck though. I'll be very surprised if Stanley doesn't repeat as Region 8 Champs and I enjoy surprises...

kidder county will be a team you need to watch. Eli Benz grew about 2 inches and lost about 15 pounds. Does not look like the same player physically. She now appears to tower over many girls. I think they have enough back to make a serious run this year and I am going to make my prediction now 9/24/09 that come March, she will have broken every record for Kidder County and will be Miss Basketball. No, I am not bragging up kidder county because I am from there. I just suggest(especially some dim witted sports writers) if given the chance to watch them play, take advantage. They do not have a true point guard, which could ultimately be their achilles heel. I do think they have enough to get to the state tournamenet again. She is an impressive force on the volleyball court also.

I agree about Benz, I watched the Kidder County - South Border VB match last night and was very impressed with her athleticism. She was a very good athlete last year and looks quicker and more agile this year. If KC develops some ball handlers she will be very tough to handle in BB.

Figured you would be talking up South Border now since you are in that school system. Eli Benz is a good player but not the all-american you brag her up to be. Let's see how your prediction goes. I like how you put that sports writer thing in your comment also, is that so they pay more attention to her and miss out on other great players in the state? Let's see if any names come out of Beach this year also...

Parshall will have a very hard time winning Region 8. Stanley returns alot of good players in the Mehus girls, Pappa, Hornberger, etc. Mandaree has a good team with Toni Johnson and Deseray Bolman. WC will be full of talented juniors. Divide County has 2 6 footers and a good guard in Renner. I predict Parshall will not go to state.

They basically take the coaches picks to win each region and then rank those as the top 8 teams in the state. After that they just fill in other top teams to round out the top forty. I'm surprised to see Carrington as high as 2. It will be a tight one between them and Harvey to take the region, but it looks like region 4 should produce a title contender this season.

Carrington and Harvey shouldn't be in the same gym. Carrington will run all over Harvey. The game that should be one to watch is Carrington at Hazen the second Friday in December.
