#9 Kidder County - 54
#3 New Rockford-Sheyenne - 46

Kidder County built up a big lead in the second quarter and never looked back, leading by 15 at half. Lindsey Sand scored 20 to lead KC, and Eli Benz and Molly Kaul added 10 apiece. The game wasn't really as close as the score would indicate. At one time during the game, NR-S was down by 19, I believe. They made a semi-run late, but it was too much to overcome.

Kidder County played a terrible game against Carrington, was their first game of the season, and i believe they were feeling the effects of losing 3 starting seniors after a pretty successful season last year. That has all changed and these girls have quickly got their game back. Lindsey Sand has got to be one of the top, if not the best players in the state. New Rockford i think is a great team but I dont think they new what was in store for them, the state ratings are a tough thing to handle, as you always have a huge target on yourback. Kidder County also beat Trinity on Saturday, who was also ranked, and handled them like they did New Rockford. I think if Kidder County played Carrington again the outcome would be really different, I believe this team is a force to be reckoned with and I wouldnt be surprised to see them in the big game come march!

One of the things I have noticed about the NR-S girls from covering them for the last several years is that teams with a dominant post player (Eli Benz in this situation, and Kirstie Gillett from Dakota Prairie was one other example of note...) along with capable guards who can handle their press, will usually exploit them. Also, this team has a tendency to go on stretches where they will coast and basically play to the level of their competition until they need that extra gear to pull away. I don't mean to sound so negative, but that's what I see sometimes. I do believe this loss will be positive for them in the long run, though.

Your thinking Missy Rosenau, but its Sierra Rosenau starts as a Freshman! I would say she is Avg. 10-15 pts a game

Harvey - 56, #5 Carrington - 39

The Hornets won this game at the line and in the post. Hetle, Klein and Thompson all got into foul trouble, and Maggie Lorenz took over the game with her play inside. Carrington had probably the coldest shooting game I've seen from them in awhile.

nice to see someone can beat bottineau.... This will be interesting to see how the Region 6 goes. MLS lost to Kenmare by 2 I think earlier, and Kenmare beat Bottineau, so there could be some well fought out games. That was amazing hearing how Kenmare was down by like 18 and came back and won against the #1 rated team in the state. Nice job Kenmare!!
