I think many of you are underestimating HMB. I believe they played in the toughest district and region...with steele/dawson, linton and HMB viable state contenders.....New Town is by far the worst 21-4 team...they have one player and no guards...this will show in state with lopsided losses in all their games they play. Bottineau is at their most vulnerable...not sure about those east teams...???? Bowman will be tough..Shiloh will win 1 game..I predict against New Town during the sat. afternoon game...I believe HMB style is best suited to compete against Bott. and Bowman...

tough to say...hmb could go out and lay an egg too...with a team that hasn't ever been to state, that first game is a bit of a wild card. add in that they only have one senior, some of the girls may have a case of nerves. i could see hmb playing in the state championship or playing early in the afternoon on saturday...or anywhere in between.

i predeict HMB to take 5th, much like Steele did in their first trip to state in 05. struggle with nerves in the first game and then find their groove after that and string together a few games. granted both years Steele played the eventual champ in the first round and i dont think Lakota will win it. i see that game being the sloppiest of the 1st round

I think Lakota will suprise a few people in this tourney. They are 19-8 and came out of a tough region with New Rockford 19-3, Carrington 18-5, ans M-L 22-3 who many people picked to place in the to 3 in the state. All three of these teams were ranked in the top ten in the final poll and Lakota beat two of them, Carrington 46-45 and M-L 65-53. I will take>

1.Bowman County
2.Bottineau
3.Lakota
4.Fordville
5.HMB
6.New Town
7.Hankinson
8.Shilo

I also think Lakota could suprise some people. They are playing really well right now, shooting the ball well and playing good defense. When you talk about teams getting on a roll come tourney time, Lakota has done that, winning their last 9 games. Coming out of a very tough Region, they are pretty well tested. I wont make picks, but just a little heads up on Lakota as I see most people think they are a flop.

I don't see FLPR winning, MAYBE first round against Region1, who has been on the weak side this entire season? Who has stats on how far region "upsets" get? When was the last time Region 1 or 2 made it past opening day?
I'm thinking Bottineau, if nothing else, size matters. WIll be fun to watch them all. Enjoy!

Region 2 Larimore won state twice about 5 years ago. They also won 40 some games in row in that stretch.

In 2005, HN, Region 2, placed 4th. So they made it past the opening day. Come to think of it, last year is the only time I can think in recent years Region 2 hasn't made it past the first day.

As someone from South Dakota, I must say..if Bowman lost to Harding Co. and they make the Class B championship in ND, then that really really makes ND look bad. I saw Harding Co. and Newell (SD) play and a lot of girls from both of the teams still have yet to learn the basic fundamentals of the game. Newell won and it was just awful basketball, even the fans from both teams were upset at the sloppy play. Top four might be stretching it..but didn't New Town get third last year and they still have their main stud back? Just a thought..
