What are your thoughts on who are the best players to ever play girls bball in ND. There have been some pretty good players the last few years. I just wanted to see some opinions.

Welle?
Perizo?
Lorenz?

That should get us started anyway

I would suggest Pat Smykowski Jacobson. She was the first Miss Basketball for ND. She led the Lidgerwood Cardinals to state 3 years in a row, winning it in her Soph year. They held a record 20+ years for most consecutive games won in a row until it was beaten a few years ago. I believe she made the all state teams starting her freshman year thru her senior year. She went on to play college ball at NDSU.

Darcy Duetsch isn't even the best player to come out of Devils Lake...I would put Privartsky above her

I think we need to add Shelly Hughes and Durene Heisler to the list

for shooting guard, i think i would put Tanya Fisher from Bowman, she was insane, and she is also North Dakota's all time leading scorer for Class B

Kami Anderson of Valley City. She was before Miss Basketball and started at Stanford for several years. I'd freak if she wasnt on some top 20 career lists for The Cardinal.

It pretty much should be a list of Miss Basketballs. The best of the best dwindled down to 5 is hard. Nadine Schmidt from Braddock is up there. Pat Smykowski from Lidgerwood is definitely up there with all of those state appearances. Wanda Schwab from Esmond and Esmond-Maddock played in the state tournament every year she was on the team (which I would guess is six times). Tanya Fischer from Bowman was an animal with the ball. And Laura Hummel from Hague put up monster points. And it wouldn't be so bad to bring Sherri Kleinsasser from Carrington off the bench. I wonder what their overall combined records are, as well as career scoring.

Another one just dawned on me - wasn't there a Shanley grad that went on to a very good career at Iowa State? My memory not cool.....

Someone said Lisa Herman from Wilton

It's Lisa Herner and she was amazing...She was their GBB coach now, i'm not sure if she still is. She averaged 25 a game that year, took her team to the state tournament. that was back in the day when coaches actually called each other up and scheduled each other so that fans could see two marquee players. Whitney Meier of Rolla and Lisa Herner of Wilton played and I believe Wilton won. Herner had an amazing game. Meier wasn't too bad, I think, but Herner's stats were better. They were both Miss Basketball candidates with Meier winning the award.

Herner, I think, started as a freshman at Texas A&M.

You mean Lisa Herner. Still #5 all-time at Texas A&M for assists. Started there '87-'91?
Now coaches for Wilton GB
