-Halftime

Grafton's Cassie Thompson leads all scorers with 16 points.

The first half of this game could be summarized by Hatton-Northwood's inability to keep up with the Spoilers. The Spoilers are known for their fast-paced up-tempo style of play.

I think it could go either way. Like others have said this season, it all comes down to who shows up ready to play. When talking about HCV, Grafton, and THompson, you can flip a coin on any given night.

My purely conversational guess would be Grafton by 8, perhaps they are a little more rested right now than HCV.

Keys for Grafton:
1. Run and push the pace. Tire out HCV
2. Keep scoring throughout the game like they have been, no dry spells

HCV keys:
1. BE PHYSICAL
2. Avoid their once per half funk where they turn the ball over and don't score

I saw you there, but I'll throw in my 2 cents. I didn't think Grafton was able to do either of your two keys. I thought both teams were probably equally physical, maybe a slight edge to Grafton. The biggest key to avoiding turnovers is not letting Grafton score. They only pressed on made baskets.

HCV slowed it down and actually should have been called for a couple of 10 second violations when Grafton was't pressing. They were extremely efficient in getting good shots and making most of them. I would love to see the stats for the game. I thought they shot extremely well.

My first time in the Betty too. Nice place.

H-CV was 18 of 31 from the field and shot 70% from the line (on 30 attempts). Grafton was 21 of 41 from the field and shot 53% at the line (8 of 15).

According to the stats I was given, Grafton outrebounded H-CV 22-18. Burros finished with 12 turnovers. Grafton with 10.

One key stat for the night - Grafton was 1 or 2 from the FT line in the first half. H-CV was 9 of 10 in that same span. The Burros went to the line early and often throughout the night. They made the most of their chances, because the Spoilers rarely beat themselves.

Another key stat was keeping Cassie Thompson and Grafton off of the offensive glass for the most part. Thompson was 7 of 9 from the field and finished with 18, but she was held to no offensive rebounds. I've seen her take control of games with her second-chance opportunities and there just wasn't any of that tonight.
