They stopped it for a quick standing ovation and so the coach could give her a special ball. It was discussed between the coaches and officials on how they wanted to do it.

I think if MV supporting cast plays like they did last night they will be tough to beat at regions

ClassBguy-- meaning at this point MV is your pick over Central Cass? I would think Central Cass supporting cast would be comparable to MV ? Games I have seen I think Central Cass will pose more of a defensive threat against MV supporting??

Yes but you do make a good point about Central Cass defense is better then Kindreds

If anyone saw last nights Kindred game vs MValley why stay in the box and 1 as long as you did? At some point don't you have to go straight up and try that option. Seems to me they have enought talent they would be able to go straight man and have more success. At one point Nudell stood by the half line and Kindred stood right next to her?

I would agree with you Wolves. I don't necessarily not like the box and 1 and triangle and 2 they threw at maple valley. Just seems with their athletes they could play very solid man defense and put pressure on the ball.
I don't see Maple Valley beating Central Cass. I think when you take away Nudell and Breske---the Squirrels cast is more fundamentally sound on both sides of the ball. I also don't think you can win multiple big games in the postseason without playing man. I think that'll be Maple Valley's other downfall.

Play-in games will be interesting. I think both could go either way. It's sometimes tough being the higher seed playing the 4:30 game.

Looking at the other district...it'll be a clean sweep again for District 2 at the region tournament.

If Maple Valley can hit the 3 consistently and win the weak-side boards like they did at the beginning of the season, they will be off to the State tournament. They don't need to "match-up" to to anyone else's supporting cast. They have individual skills that are very strong, and need to put it together.

I have tried to stay out of this but the last one sent me over the edge. Yes, MV has a great player in Nudell. Saying they have talented skilled players is a stretch. IMO they are extremely well coached on what their jobs are and they are good enough to do what they are coached. Their senior guard can get hot and hit wide open shots.
That coaching staff should be very proud of what they have done with the talent that they put on the floor. I am a fan of MV and like watching them play because of what they are.... a team that every player knows their role and they are happy to play it. Hats off.
Now I see Central Cass winning it all for another state berth.
But then again if Kindred can put together a full game.... they just might surprise MV and CC.

Should be an interesting Regional Tourney. IMO CCHS, MV or KINDRED could go to state , heck since we are talking about "putting" one good game together even Norhtern Cass could put a great game together and beat anyone more than likely. Great teams to watch, great talent on all of them.

I will have to read thru the post to see who said that they have talented skilled players, but I do believe they have players who have a strong skill or two to fill in the gaps. When MV beat state-ranked Shiloh early on, Nudell scored almost 30 points, but what really put them over was the 20+ game Paulz put in also. She actually scored the winning shot. Tinjum won't carry the team, but is a threat at the 3-pt and free throw line if it came down to the wire. It could be a 3 team dog fight, and I would love to see another small school join Milnor out of Region 1 this year.

The Class B tournament is always a good story, but you are right that Maple Valley would make it a great story. There is a pretty strong fan base for that little school, and I would like to see what they can bring to the final bb tournament of the year.

I don't think Maple Valley will make it to state and it will be a GREAT story for whichever team does make it. Setting our media attention and every conversation on one or two particular girls is getting a little to "old" in my book. There are 5 girls on the team and many more that play to win the game as hard or harder than the "so called" superstars of any team. In most cases the rest of the kids make that player better and don't make the news, don't get the records, etc.... small school, big school, they are all young girls all with the same goal and their stories are as important as the rest!!

Sounds like a case of a jealous parent.....

It's pretty special that in District 2 alone there are 3 girls going on to play a D1 sport. I wonder when the last time that happened in Class B. It's ok for these kids to get recognized. You have no idea the immense amount of pressure those girls are under night-in and night-out----when you're the star it seems like way too many people in the crowd are waiting and wanting to see you fail.

Don't have a dog in the fight but could see if someone did how it gets old only hearing two or three names over and over again in one tournament that is all.
