Each district should have no more than 10 players on an All-District team. 5 would be even better.

I think with District 2 is there were ties and they didn't want feel the need to break those ties.

I would guess there wouldn't be any ties if you had to pick the top 5 or even 10, and you can't nominate or vote for your own player.

I would guess there wouldn't be any ties if you had to pick the top 5 or even 10, and you can't nominate or vote for your own player.

Why is the number of players such a sore spot for you scoob? And, why shouldn't they nominate and/or vote for their own? Who knows better?

It really isn't a sore spot. It is a nice opportunity to recognize some very deserving athletes. I just think that it has somewhat turned into a nice participation award for the upper tier. There are some fantastic Class B players who don't get out of Districts but could maybe be recognized as a top player in the state if they could be considered in the top 5 in their district. It would help the players and Class B get more recognition especially with colleges.

One example, Johnson from Richland is the 2nd leading rebounder in the history of Class B basketball (I think), but she may not get the recognition she deserves especially if they don't continue on to Regions.

Could someone explain how the selection process works? Many (including myself) really don't understand it. Thanks.

Coaches nominate players on their team they think are deserving. Coaches vote on all players, but cannot vote for their own. Players with the most votes are selected.

Some districts allow you to vote for your own players.

The only problem I really see with the All District teams is that many times a dominate team could easily have 5 girls or more on the team. Instead someone from another team that wouldn't even make varisity on the dominate team is all district. There ARE some of these cases above. Why is it that in many districts there seems to be at least one person from each team on the all district team? Just not really fair to the #4 player on a dominate team when they are 10 times more skilled than the best player on a lesser team. Just something that has always bugged me I guess and no system would be perfect...

I feel Oakes got robbed on All District. Going into the tourney as the #3 seed you would think they had at least 2 deserving players. Just doesn't seem right?

Maybe only one girl was nominated from that team? I believe that they would have to be nominated by their coach in order to receive votes.
