I'm going for Grafton by 10. It sounds like they play a lot like Kindred with their defense. Hanna Thompson and Alison Burns can drill three's plus Samantha DeSautel can wiggle her way underneath the basket. DeSautel scored 27 last year against them. Playing Grafton in Grafton is going to be tough both for the girls and boys teams.

I should know better than to not take Grafton at home, but I am gonna go with Central Cass on this one. If Breske gets hot, she's unstoppable...

When the starters left the game Grafton was up 15. Hanna and Ali made big three point shots. I wouldn't bet against the Grafton girls at home.

The score was not a good a representation of the game - in the 2nd quarter, Grafton was up by 20 and three starters were on the bench for the last 3:20 of the quarter. They could have really put them away then. Then Grafton coach did not have them ready to play to start the third quarter, knowing CC would try to make a run.

Just because Grafton had 3 of their starters on the bench doesn't mean that they backed off in the first half. Bringing in Burns, Feltman, and Jiskra isn't exactly sending in the scrubs. They are all excellent ball players and are part of the 8 or 9 player rotation that Grafton usually runs. Grafton won the game easily, but don't make it sound like they could have won by 40 if they hadn't backed off.

I agree 63, thats just part of their rotation. Graftons second 5 would be the number two team in the district. They are very deep and part of her rotation, I feel they didnt miss a beat with them in the game, and you knew CC was going to come out and go on a run. Thats what great teams do and they are a great team.

I will start by saying Grafton won no question. But if you were at the game the refs were a joke!!!! Rich O may be a good VB coach but as a ref not! ONe example a grafton girl was in the lane early on a FT and got the board and a putback. His comment was that was not his call? The Grafton boys will agree with the Casselton girls, the reffing was not on there side Saturday night. These 3 ref crews IMO stink for the most part. Another example, Breske shoots a 3 from the corner, Jiskra take her legs out on the boxout and she end up on the ground hurt and that was right in front of 2 of the 3 guys and no call. This was not an intentional foul but it had an effect on the game. That put her on the bench when the game still in question. Soon after Dixon gets her 3rd so she sits along with Breske and Titus (fouls). Not saying CC would have won the game but at least let the kids decide the outcome. At least at the end of the boys game they let them play but early on it was a joke with all the little tic-tac fouls they were calling and Grafton was getting the short end of that stick.

I don't think reffing had a major impact on the outcome of either the boys or girls games. The teams that should have won did. Keep in mind that in games that are played as fast and wild as these, with all the quickness and action, it's tougher to ref. And these guys that ref aren't exactly getting rich doing it.

Who had the advantage on the boards? The few times I have seen CC, I thought their rebounding would put them at a disadvantage in a physical game.

For the most part, I thought Grafton had the advantage...Dixon got in foul trouble early and that gave Grafton even more of an advantage.

You are correct by saying the teams that won deserved to win and I won't take anything away from that.
Grafton and Central Cass both have good teams representing them.

BUT I will add my two sense to "Keep in mind that in games that are played as fast and wild as these, with all the quickness and action, it's tougher to ref." Fast and Wild? You betcha! Tougher to ref because of quickeness and action? No that happens when 3 refs let it get out of control. The refs are there for a reason. Keep it controlled and let it be a good game. 3 refs in a game should be doing just that.

I did see the call that was missed by the ref under the basket. When Mears asked what the deal was, the ref responded that it wasn't his zone. (And that is exacytly what came out of his mouth) Really, you just missed the call and are trying to pass the buck huh? Who's zone is it? I guess I'm asking the same question then, if anyone would like to respond. Who makes the call?

63 - you are joking right????? You made my point exactly with your comments - With three starters on the bench, Grafton DID NOT increase their lead. Who gave them the big lead - Nothing against Burns, Fletman or Jiskra - they are all good players and play a huge roll on the Grafton team. Point is still the starting 5 built up the lead - the roll players maintained it (didn't build it up) That's what roll players do!!!! I didn't mean to make it sound like they would win by 40. But I think 20 would have been a better representation of how the game went.

Then you either weren't actually at the game, or you weren't watching.

So, you feel that with a few different calls that the CC girls would have beaten Grafton? Then apparently, my friend, you must not have seen the same game I did. And roll your eyes at me all you want, but I stand by my comments. Reffing isn't easy, and to expect that every single call is going to be made perfectly is rediculous. I don't know of any ref that goes into a game with the idea that he intends to make some poor calls. Does it happen? Certainly. But in the CC vs. Grafton girls game were there enough poor calls that would have made CC win? You can't be serious.

Not to take anything away from Grafton, and I wasn't there...but wouldn't most of the top 10 teams beat CC if Dixon and Breske weren't on the floor as much as they should be?

Yes, part of the game, but the picture just became more clear. They are a HUGE part of that team.

old#63 , grafton won that game. enough said. There is a bigger picture for both teams I would assume which is making it to state. I would hope that both teams learned something and maybe they can meet again.

I don't believe anyone is trying to say that CC would have beaten Grafton. Grafton played a good game and deserved to win. Grafton wanted it more you could tell by how they came out of the gate. BUT when there are 3 refs on the floor then the game would have been better. You certainly can't say any different, but you will.
