Caleb Shockman is walking on to NDSU. It'll be tough for him to make the team this coming year though.

tough to say. i always thought he would be a better college player than high school player because in college he pretty much has to play right near the basket.

best of luck, i'll be curious to see if it works out for him.

I guess I had heard Shockman was headed to NDSU too, but probably wasn't gonna go out for basketball. I guess we'll see. If he decides to, which I hope he does, he's got a lot of work to do. Playing Oral Roberts is a far cry from District 5. Hit the weight room, play basketball all day. If he chooses not to continue his career, I respect his decision. He is a smart kid that will go far in life no matter what he ends up doing.

He might walk on I heard. Could be interesting to see what happens.
He is 6'6" , quick and decent speed. Shoots well and good range.
State B was not his best showing unfortunately.

He needs 25 to 30 lbs at least. That can happen.
He needs to live in the weight room and the gym. That can happen.
He needs to get much better all around. That can happen.
He needs to keep grades while this happens. That can happen. Very good student.

He could even grow an inch or two. That wouldn't hurt. His dad grew 2-3 inches after HS, and one older brother grew from 6'1" to 6'5" after HS. Maybe it could happen to him.

If he is willing and determined enough to go through a redshirt season, a redshirt freshmen year and a redshirt sophomore year without seeing the floor much if at all, he might work into a role for a couple years.
It is very easy to say "he's not D-1". I hope he takes the shot if he wants to. At least he won't wonder about it. Would love to see him make it.

If he goes, best of luck to him.

He is walking on and trying out for the basketball team, he wasn't guaranteed anything, and they said next year they will redshirt him if he makes the team and that if he doesn't the main thing for him will be getting stronger in that year. He went up there and scrimmaged with them and did very well. Then with Mertens and May deciding against walking on to NDSU, he has a way better shot at making the team. Who knows if it will work out for him, he has room to grow, has the work ethic to do it, he is good academically. If its his dream to represent ND at the D-1 level, i say go for it.

Back on topic, Who else in Class B basketball has committed/signed to a college?

unless he plans on getting hurt he cant have 2 redshirts. you get one redshirt normally and then 1 medical redshirt.

That's what he's talking about...one year redshirt and two years as a "redshirt" freshman and sophomore (once you redshirt you always have that title with you)....then maybe seeing the floor as a "Redshirt" junior and senior.

Yes, Carlblom is heading to VCSU. Sounds like Ben Kirsch from Grant County is also headed to VCSU. 6'11'' with a decent touch is a good start. He needs to get stronger and when that happens he will be a great player at the NAIA level.

Hansen and YoungBird are good players, but they need to get better on the defensive end....Luke Martinez is a good fit for this team
