Dufault named N.D. Gatorade player of the year
CHICAGO — Killdeer’s Austin Dufault was named the 2007-08 Gatorade North Dakota Boys Basketball Player of the Year as announced by The Gatorade Company in partnership with RISE Magazine in a Wednesday press release.
The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the court, distinguishes the 6-foot-8 senior as North Dakota’s best high school basketball player. Dufault is now a finalist for the Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year award to be announced in March.
Dufault, who signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the University of Colorado, averaged 26 points and 12 rebounds a game this season, leading Class B Killdeer to the Region 7 quarterfinals. He has maintained a 3.7 GPA, plays saxophone for the school band and volunteers as a member of both the Future Business Leaders of America and his Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church community.
