Wondering why nobody is talking about region 8

Postby 9manfootballmom » Wed Feb 27, 2008 2:59 pm

I am in the dark but know Jarek Hanson and Josh Veda from Williston Trinity. Sounds like there are a few good teams up that way too, right? Or do I gave my regions mixed up? Set me straight, give me some info abou the 8 teams that are left up there. thanks

Dist 16.
1. Divide Co.
2. Trinity Ch.
3. Powers Lake
4. Ray

Dist 15.
1. Watford City
2. New Town
3. Parshall
4. Mandaree

Trinity vs Parshall should be the best game day 1 of Region 8. There are 5 legit conteders IMO. Should be a very good tournament.

Thanks I'll be watching. Wish It wasn't such a crazy drive to Williston. Would love to see some of those teams play.

I am not much for predictions, what I can tell you this. If Divide County plays the way they did against TC the last two games, (both were nailbiters), there is no way Mandaree beats DC. However DC has a week to cool off. They are getting scoring from everyone now, the Dyuvetters combined for 37 against TC in the District Championship. Haugland is emerging as one of the best guards in the region and is fearless. Both district championships in this region were classics. I agree with the post that there are five legit contenders for this region. Talent wise, it is Watford, then TC through 7 or 8 players. But it is regional tournament time and the pressure rises. Should be a great regional, as it will be in region 7 as well.

is this tourney played where WSC plays there games? thats a nice gym and all but it seems kinda small for a regional tournament. then again its probably the best in the area. just if my memory is right it wasnt the biggest seating wise

You must not have been to "The Well" yet. Beautiful new facitlity, comfortable, I believe it seats 2800 to 3000 which is about perfect. Way better than when they played regionals at the Phil Jackson Fieldhouse. Regionals were at "The Well", I believe the last two years and it has been great.

Change that to DC over Mandaree by 8 and we're good. DC beat TC by 4 in District with Dane Duhyvetter missing at least that may free throws. If they're hot 8 will be easy.

Dane Dyuvetter might have missed four free throws for the game, I don't know for sure. But DC hit their last 9 of 10 from the line. I think they hit one and missed one with one second left in the game.

Your picks are solid, however I don't believe NT will beat Powers lake by that much and Watford will not beat Ray by 30. What are your predictions on the parshall vs. Trinity Christian game..That is going to be a toss up..Parshall wins in my opinion, unless TC can control the paint. The semi finals will all be games within 5..??

Picks in this tourney are meaningless. Win or go home. On any given night any team is capable of beating any other. Three good games earn you the right to go to state. One poor night gives you the chance to watch it on TV. At this point records earn you nothing with the exception of a target on your back. WC has the most to lose in this one with the #1 ranking and undefeated season. There are at least five other teams that could give them a good run. They will have my full respect if they can make it through this region. The west is fortunate to have so many good teams this year. I can think of ten teams that could all make some noise at a state tourney. Should be a fun week finding out who it will be.
