Just wondering what people think of Devin Barton. I watched him play and he impressed me.

What impressed you about him? Watched him when FW went to Carrington and for a 6'7" guy I wasn't impressed. He had 12 points and maybe 5 or 6 rebounds and definitely wasn't a factor in the game.

For a big guy he has great hands and pretty good moves. Also he put in 35 against Midkota last week.

Midkota plays NO DEFENSE, so it wouldn't be to tough to score on them.

Devin Barton has a nice future if he is a worker. He has a nice frame and moves fairly well. He has a top notch coach and some classmates and guys a year younger to play with. Could be a good one.

The kid really isn't what everyone makes him sound.......Averaging 14 points a game is good but with his height he should easily have 20 points a game and 10+ rebounds but he is only a sophmore......i guess we'll see what happens in the future

??"Everyone makes him sound"?? He's been described as very good to underachieving. He is a 16 year old big kid who is decent and in a talented young program that is well coached. It is hard to make the statement that he "should be scoring this and rebounding that". He is a promising young post player who has a very nice upside.

Forgive my ignorance and I'm not trying to start trouble I just want to know where we get the Monson is a top notch coach statement. Carrington has been an average program for a number of years as far as I can remember. How many district titles does he have and state tourney appearences?

I might be the ignorant one. I do not know the exact record, locations and years that Coach Monson has put in and achieved. My opinion that he is a fine coach has been derived from comments from several of his peers, personal conversations with him, and observation. If state appearances, distirict titles, etc. are THE measure of whether a coach is a good one or not, that's pretty shallow. They are certainly indicators, but there are may fine coaches that have never been to state, or maybe have once or twice.
I understand it's a topic that is mostly subjective and debateable, just one person's thoughts.
