School: PBK

Record: 25-0, ranked third in state in final media poll

Starters: Bret Kinzler, Troy VanRay, Ross Florhaug, Nick Bata, Jarvis Kramer

Note: Troy VanRay was scoring about 6 PPG the first half of the season and upped that to probably 11 or 12 PPG in the final two months. He is showing quite a bit more confidence driving to the hoop and hit a couple of key threes in the region championship.

Key reserves: Levi Hintz (sixth man), John Pfauf (SP?)...one key difference in this year's team from last is that they aren't as deep. Last year's team seemed like it could go 10 or 11 deep and this year's version goes 7 or 8

Leading scorer: Florhaug (21 or so PG)

Rebounder: Bata (8 PG, maybe 7, to go with 15 or 17 PPG)

Assists: Kinzler (6 or 7 PG)

Steals: Florhaug is probably averaging 2 or 3 PG, but I don't know if that would lead the team or not...tough to say with their fast-break approach in the regular season

Blocks: Bata is probably averaging 2 PG...at least 1 PG for sure...maybe somewhere in between

Good wins: beat tenth-ranked LaMoure 4 times, beat Ellendale who was ranked in the state at one time, beat District 6 champ Steele-Dawson by about 30, beat W-T-P-R when they were considered the favorite in District 6 early in the year, beat Linton in regionals and anytime anyone beats Linton in a tournament it is note-worthy.

Bad losses: *does not compute, does not compute* (maybe the one knock on P-B-K is they haven't really played a lot of competition outside of Region 3 and maybe District 7. Makes it really tough to figure out how they stack up against the rest of the state...only a couple more days of guessing, though)

All District: Florhaug, Bata (I think Kinzler should have been named if he wasn't...not sure)

All Region: not announced after tournament, but I'm sure the all-district names would apply also

Note: these stats do not include the region championship game, but basically they are close

School: Four Winds

Record: 25-0, ranked second in state in final media poll

Starters: Tony Ironheart, Kellen Littlewind, Quentin Lovejoy, Dave de la Paz, Riley Smith

Key reserves: Mike Meade, Steve Cavanaugh

Leading scorer: Ironheart (20 PG), Littlewind (15 PG)

Rebounder: Lovejoy (6 PG), de la Paz (5 PG)

Assists: Littlewind (7 PG), Ironheart (6.5 PG)

Steals: Ironheart (3 PG), Littlewind (2.5 PG), de la Paz (2.5 PG)

Blocks: No clue

Good wins: They have gone over 100 points in a handful of games and in a 32-minute game, it doesn't matter who you are playing, it is impressive. I really don't know about all of the teams in Region 4, but Langdon had something like three wins coming into the championship game. In District 7 they were pretty much head and shoulders above everyone else, as they beat Minnewaukan-Leeds by 20 in the district championship.

Bad losses: Not a valid question to this point in the season

All District: No idea, but if littlewind and ironheart weren't on there at the very least something is wrong. I haven't seen them play, but their stats are pretty solid.

All Region: Same as all-district if I had to guess

To back up rep in previous post about 4 Winds.  Ironheart, Littlewind and Lovejoy were all district.  Good wins - Langdon, 2 wins over Minnewaukan-Leeds, Class A Belcourt and a very good Red Lake, MN team.  JL

I'm not so sure beating Langdon is a quality win...Bottineau beat them by 30.
Minnewaukan-Leeds is above average, but not much better IMO.

Beating Belcourt is definitely a quality win. They competed with everyone in the West Region. Don't know anything about Red Lake.

School: MPCG

Record: one loss, assuming record is 24-1, ranked first in the state in final media poll

Starters: James Baldwin, Luke Lorenz, Kevin Gerszewski, Alex Berry, David Frye

Reserves: Brian Harpestad, Dustin Klath, Ryan Baldock

Leading Scorer: Lorenz (16.5 PG), Baldwin (12 PG)

Rebounder: Lorenz (8.2 PG), Baldwin (7 PG)

FT Leader: Gerszewski (76 percent)

Good Wins: not a clue, but they beat North Border in region championship if that means anything?

Bad losses: To Thompson in the regular season for their only loss. Avenged it during the tournaments.

All district/region Players: not a clue, but I'm assuming Lorenz and Baldwin

School: Richland

Record: 22-3 (i think, though i believe they have lost only 1 game to North Dakota Class B teams), were getting votes in final media poll of season, but weren't in top 10

Note: Team was scoring 63 points a game and giving up 48 per game on average

Starters: Dustin Erbes, Kyle Breuer, Jon Griffith, Logan Robertsdahl, Jay Bachman

Reserves: no clue

Leading Scorer: Erbes (16 PG), Breuer (10 PG), Griffith (10 PG)

Rebounder: Erbes (7.5 PG), Breuer (7 PG)

Assists: Breuer - 100 or so on the season

Good Wins: no clue

Bad losses: To Lisbon during the regular season, but that seemed to wake the team up. Don't know about other losses, if they were to Class A or Minnesota teams.

All district region Players: assuming Erbes, but no clue after that

Four Winds quality wins are what nativegolfer said they are. Langdon may have lost to Bottineau, that was the 9th of January, still early in the year. Langdon had a good team this year, District Champs, Region runner-up, thats a good team. Minnewaukan Leeds wasnt much but they have a great coach who knows how to get it done come tourney time.

There is no All Region in Region 8.  Those 3 were on the All-Tournament Team.
