Favorites according to hoopster:

Region 1- Enderlin
Region 2- Hillsboro-CV
Region 3- Strasburg-Zeeland
Region 4- Four Winds Minnewauken
Region 5- Shiloh Christian
Region 6- Our Reedemers
Region 7- Hettinger-Scranton
Region 8- Parshall

I would feel that these teams would be the favorites, however, there are some historically strong teams, and some exciting young teams in every region. My predictions for the number one challenger in each region are as follows:

Region 1: Milnor North Sargent (but oak grove may surprise some people)
Region 2: Thompson (don't count out Cavalier)
Region 3: Linton HMB (however I feel this is Strasburg Zeelands region to lose)
Region 4: Dunseith (I think this is a two team race)
Region 5: Washburn (I feel this is Shiloh's region to lose)
Region 6: Drake Annamoose
Region 7: Dickinson Trinity (you can never count out Beulah though)
Region 8: Watford City (this is parshalls region to lose)

I'll agree with you on all of the favorites, but I'm gonna say North Star and Rugby are the number 1 challengers in their region.

Im curious as to why you think NS would be the number 2 team over Dunseith or St. John? Care to elaborate Hammer?

North Star is 4th best in Region 4...if even 4th best...Region 4 will be very competitive but its still Dunseith & FW-M that everyone is chasing.

Region 1 is M-NS, Northern Cass & Enderlin with the most talent to win the region...however, agreed that any team can get hot from that 2nd tier during the postseason. Super-Regional format will also make things much more interesting too.

P.S. Look for some analysis from each Region on this site as we get closer to the start of the season!

Anything can happen at tourney time. But in region 4 regular season North Star should and will likely finish behind FW-M, Dunseith and St. John. St. John is who North Star should be shooting to beat.

I am not as high on Drake as everyone else. Rugby and Bishop Ryan shouldn't be to bad. Our Redeemer's has lots of size but not a whole lot of outside shooting and versatility. Should be an interesting region. Wouldn't be surprised to see any of these four teams at the state tourney.

Finally, 2015/2016 is here! What games will be the best this evening? I'd like to drive to Linton tonight to see the Lions host H/Scranton. But, Linton is just to far. A few other interesting games include...
Hazen @ Bishop Ryan, two traditionally stronger teams.
Hawley, MN @ Oak Grove, what will the back to back region champs look like this year?
Lisbon @ Oakes, a weaker team returns all their key parts, and a strong team lost a lot...

Wow. Bishop Ryan beat Hazen by 25! I heard Carr is eligible to play as well. Surprising result.

A lot have people think Hettinger-Scranton supposed to be the best in the state this year. Yes. Another surprise.

I believe Hettinger/Scranton is probably a better team than Linton. But, the "better" team doesn't always win. And can it really be much of an upset when any Linton team wins at home???
