Not sure if many were aware but a group of Class B players joined together to make a team and compete in this years Junior Grand Am. The "Class B All Stars" overcame a field of 36 teams to win the tournament, beating a team from MN and 4 Class A teams along the way. It was cool to see a collective group of guys who have never played together before as a unit come together in 2 days and play some pretty good basketball vs some of the best of Class A. Team included: Heidlebaugh, Bernhardt and Miller from Rugby, Kvilvang and Komrosky from North Star, Kretchman from Oak Grove, Lee from Berthold, Purinton from Linton, Olson from Lamoure and White from Ellendale.
A couple of other observations....
I hadn't seen Blaze Irwin play since last year and he has really developed physically. He will have a very good career at Minot State. A legit dude.
Dakota Halvorson is really fun to watch!
Austin Lee can hit some bombs when he is dialed in.
Heidlebaugh plays his best when his best is needed. John Wooden would have loved him. (Before you react to this, look up his pyramid of success. I am not saying he could have played at UCLA.) Suffice it to say that this years Mr. BB has competitive greatness.
