FW always plays a tough no region schedule but I've always wondered why Northstar and FW never have a reg season game scheduled

Does the name 'Chuck Lovejoy' ring a bell? (in more ways than one)

It took me a bit of digging in the memory banks, but I think Vikingman is correct, wasn't there a game with supporting video showing a shot by Lovejoy to the lower regions of a North Star player that precipitated the decision to hold no regular season games between the two teams?

And that is the reason.

We play them in the Ramsey tournament on a regular basis, almost certainly will again next year.

It's not guaranteed and it's not the same as going on the road or staying home to play a top team

You are right nothing is for certain, NS and FW have, in recent years scheduled very tough opponents, keeping that in mind they have also met up in the Ramsey county and Regional, I think that they look to other tough opponents with it in the back of their minds that playing each other in another non-conference game doesn't serve a purpose, just my take, the Lovejoy thing was years ago, cheap shot with no repercussions but I don't know if that figures in anymore.

As far as 2014-2015, here is my uneducated opinion:
1. Oak Grove
2. Rugby
3.FW-M/North Star
4. Cavalier
5. Dickinson Trinity
6. Shiloh
7. Linton
8. Beulah
9. St. John
10. Minot Ryan
Oak Grove is king of the hill until someone knocks them off, Rugby is stacked, FW-M and North Star are mirror images of each other, wild card will be the 6'4 Azure kid for FW-M who becomes eligible next year. Cavalier has Robbins, DT, perennial and great coach, Shiloh perennial, Linton- puritan and legendary coach, Beulah- best individual athlete in the state
St. John- gonna have superior guard play next year, Minot Ryan- they often just reload.
I am sure there will be some sleeper teams that surprise everyone but I look to see great things from all of these teams next year.

Ryan will be down next yr, still top 3 or 4 in districk 12........decent class of sophmores(jr next yr) and jr high level group potentially looks really strong.

Our Redeemers is the school to be strong next yr behind Rugby in my opinion, but nobody will touch Rugby around here.

What sense does it make to play a team 3 - 4 times? History has them playing each other 2 times each year in high impact games. You need more than that? Generally one of the teams is very deep and junior/senior laden while the other is not nearly as deep and playing younger guys? A younger team is going to have growing pains during the year. Why expose that to a team you will probably have to play to make state? Please explain to me why you think they should schedule them?

Doesn't matter anyway.....I give it two more seasons and region 4 will be going to a super region format and everyone will play all teams in the region

This may be worth following. The rumor mill is telling me that the following players have transferred to Williston Trinity.

Stefan Stubbs of Tioga. 6'6" forward.
Austin Schell of Trenton. 6'2" forward.
Austin Brown of Williston. 6'2 guard.
De'Sean Eikens of Williston. 6'5" forward.

May very well change the make up of Class B next year.

Unless they are incoming freshman how would the Williston kids avoid sitting out a season?

Eikens would be a freshman.

I do not have all of the info but there are various holes in the NDHSAA transfer rules.

Sounds like Williston Trinity will be salty. Word is Eikens could be one of the best we have seen in sometime. I believe the quote was "high D1 talent". Will be interesting. Good for them.

How tall is this kid? How old are the other potential transfers?

6'6".

Brown is a 2017.
Schell is a 2016.
Stubbs is a 2016.

Great, now "private schools are the devil" (see what I did there) will come back again. I also think it's really weird that if this kid has D1 talent, he'd want to play class B. Typically, those kids want to play class A to play better competition.

He definitely has D1 talent.

I won't comment on why each of the individuals may transfer, so I would say your guess is as good as mine.

To be clear, I wasn't making any negative inference about this situation. The rules are the rules.

I wasn't blaming that on you. I guess I just chose your post to quote. I was talking about the pandemonium that will break out over this.
