I think the seeding looks pretty good. I think Linton is really the only one that should have a complaint and I would've put them as #4. Really a toss up for #4 between Beulah and Linton and I would've voted Linton due to head to head. To me New Town and Flasher just didn't play anyone to warrant one of the top seeds.

I like the "seeding" thing and hope it continues. Gives us all here something else to whine about.

Flasher did hand Shiloh 3 of their 4 losses this season, and Shiloh had wins over both Oak Grove and Linton. I think the last seed could have gone to Beulah, Linton, or Flasher but Beulah does make sense because of how they have been playing and how competitive that region is.

I have rugby winning. Not betting against heidelbaugh and their shooters. What about senior athlete and Coach of the year? Any thoughts?

Yeah, but I wouldn't have been able to get past their two losses to slightly better than average teams. (Strasburg and Grant Co.) They definately had Shiloh's number but they lost to a couple marginal teams as well. You're right, Beulah does make the most sense due to their schedule and most of their losses being early and to very good teams.

Strasburg is a tough team, they almost beat Linton to advance to state. Plus that was Flashers 1st game of the season and Strasburgs 3rd and I think having a few games under your belt is an advantage. It seemed like both Beulah and Flasher struggled early before they started to click. Personally I think they got the seeding right.

Don't pay much attention to points per game or points against. It all comes down to the amount possessions. OG plays fast therefore there are more possessions. Others are patient and keep possessions low. Tempo and getting yours is the key at State.

Just out of curiosity, and maybe this has been discussed before, but why did coverage of the "B" get moved to ABC? I don't really remember hearing much about it.

They won out on the bidding process and could provide it in HD. Welcome change for me

The last time Rugby won a state championship was in 1962. They were class A at the time and I was a fourteen year old High School Freshman living in a neighboring town. I saw a few of their regular season games and also if I remember correctly the state tournament was televised. Anyway, they played Park River in the first game and Paul Presthus scored 35 points in the opening win. In the semifinal they matched up with Fargo Central and I remember that Fargo's coach predicted that there was no way Presthus was going to score 35 points against them. He didn't. He made 44 in a fairly easy win. They played the Phil Jackson led Williston Coyotes in the championship. Jackson went on to play professionally and has been a long time NBA coach. If North Dakota was as huge a basketball state at that time as Indiana, this would have been as big an accomplishment as the team portrayed in the movie "Hoosiers". I am posting this because tomorrow at 9:20 am central time, KZZJ AM 1450 will be broadcasting an interview with the previously mentioned Presthus and some of you basketball junkies out there may want to tune in.

I'll take all of the seeded teams to win, in my mini upset of the tourney I will say that Game 3 will be the closest game of the day, but after my record in picking region championship games I'm not very confident!

Justin Keller is not Rugby's all-time leading scorer.
1. Paul Presthus - 1,716
2. Kevin Miiler - 1,268
3. Justin Keller - 1,162
4. Brad Heidlebaugh - 1,025

I was just going by the Hoopster. They have him listed at 1762 points - but I suppose it got crossed up in the typing and it should have been 1162. I always thought that was a bit high for Justin - but I wasn't going to argue with the Hoopster.
Thanks for the correction though.

What would be the closest radio station to Grand Forks that will be doing ALL the games? There's no way I'll be able to pick up Langdon or DL.

Is it just me or is the coverage for the opening day of the biggest sports weekend in the state lacking in the Grand Forks Herald today? Maybe GF should stick to hockey. If I recall correctly the Minot paper and Bismarck Tribune usually have special sections just for the tourney that had stories about every team not just 4. Maybe I'm wrong and others feel the coverage is ok.

Welcome to (lack of) Class B coverage in the eastern side of the state, and it isn't just for state tournament it is for everything. Both the GF Herald and the Fargo Forum are severely lacking articles/coverage of class B and seem to only focus on college teams, Class A, or the local parochial schools that are Class B. The Herald will have an occasional article about class B but it is the same teams all the time. When a boxscore is printed in the Forum it is often wrong anyway(the individual points don't add up to the team total score, they aren't given to correct player, girls scores listed in boys section etc etc). Usually IMO the Herald is a little better however. I have just quit subscribing. Not worth the money.

I will always believe that the State Class B BB tourneys belong in Minot or Bismarck. The Alerus Center and the Fargodome are horrible places to watch a BB game and neither town appreciates the Class B fans and all the money they bring in for the weekend. Bismarck and Minot have always welcomed the people from the small towns and seem to enjoy hosting the tournaments, Fargo and Grand Forks act like they are doing us a favor by "allowing" us to come to their city for the weekend. JMO.
