Region 3 Tourney - 2014 - Discussion Thread

Postby EHS1998 » Tue Feb 18, 2014 12:53 pm

Setting up a discussion thread for what could be a very exciting Region 3 tournament.

How does everyone see things playing out?

Can anyone crash the party that LLM and LHMB have planned for the finals?

This region is up for grabs, depends on who gets hot, who gets into foul trouble etc. LLM and LHMB are the favorites, well coached and have been there before but for once in a very long time this region is pretty even. There is no huge favorite. Looking forward to a great tournament, hopefully one that isn't decided by the men in stripes.

I think Lamoure will take the region at this point. With the return of Olson they are very tough. No game will be easy though as this region has multiple teams that could make a run.

No predictions on your game EHS?
I'm going with
LLM
MPB
LHMB
Ellendale
predicting all games come down to the wire.

:D I typically try to stay away from predicting our games. I do expect both Ellendale and Kidder County to be prepared and to play well. Vance and Olson are both very good coaches who will have their teams ready.

I do agree that each game will be a battle to the end. Each game has interesting match ups and each team has seen the other at least 1x in the regular season. To me that lends itself toward tighter games.

LLM 23 South Border 9 after the 1st period.

LLM 33 South Border 27 at the half.

LLM 48 South Border 37 after 3

South Border is a head by 5 with less then a minute to go

What happened in the 4th quarter of the LLM-SB game? Was it a good comeback by SB or did LLM let it slip away?

SB was down 18 in the 3rd quarter and it seemed as though LLM was cruising (throwing ally-oops, trying new things, etc.), not one time on that run SB had did Thielges call for timeout, which puzzled me, but anyway it was a huge win for SB and will be a great semi-final rematch tomorrow especially from a 2 OT thriller last year there.

Loboe fan.

They didn't try or do any "new" things.
Time out maybe. Probly not a big deal.

Credit to SB for a real solid comeback. I tip my hat to them. They hit some huge shots. Loboes went cold. Then rushed some possessions. SB deserves some credit for that.

Certainly wanted to be around for rest of tourney. Real tough loss.
Congrats to SB and good luck to semi teams.

I just thought you would go back to the ball screens since you killed SB in the first half with it, there wasn't much of it in the 2nd half. LLM killed SB in the ball screens last year and the first half of this game.

I assume there were games tonight.

No discussion.

Is the a Region 3 thread, or just a re-invented thread for the sacred soil?

Some lesson's for tomorrow night's game:

Basket=Korb
Fouk= verschmutzen
Base line=Basislinie
Pass=passieren
Three-point basket=Drei Punkt warenkorb

There was a part about recruits being pronounced "Rehmik" but I'm taking the high road on this one.

Region III final--come for the kraut, stay for the game!

I love german country!

I'm taking Linton in this one. With Small, Purintin, and Schneider shooting how they are, I don't see SZ being able to stop them. Linton's ability to press and up the intensity in big games is going to be too much. Linton wins 55-45

Flyberg as well. He is generally a good barometer for LHMBs shooting. Lintons defensive intensity last night was huge for them. They really did a great job pressuring the ball and limiting inside touches. They had too many weapons for us to deal with. None of these players ever see a double team because if you did, one or more of the others is going to hurt you.
