But I cant find any mention about District 5.

Don't be surprised if they opt up to continue to play against more similar sized schools. :)

Where do you think they will end up? After all, they do have history (and a District 5 title that still pi$$es the world off) under their belts.

I'm guessing that three-class talk is all the rage between ND 13 and 11 from ND1 to the river now!

With Carrington and Oakes going to Dist 5 it might not be as big of issue anymore. I'm sure they will move someone from Dist 5 over to 6 to even them out. What team in Dist 5 is farthest west?

Oh, it will be an issue. It will always be an issue.

I agree that is likely where they go I just expected it to be mentioned in the article given the thread title.

EKM, Carrington and Ellendale are all on 281 which will be the western edge of D5. Not sure how they would work that out. Maybe the superegion concept will take hold by then.

That's what I hope, too. In my region, Munich-Starkweather is done after this season so that leaves 13 teams next year. I've heard/read from ADs/coaches that when we got down to 12-13 they'd take a serious look at the super region format (already approved for VB for next year). That would give us 3 regions and I know Region 3 has presented plans and talked about it before as well. I think the NDHSAA will move in that direction for all regions in another 2 years.

What is happening with Munch-Starkweather?

not enough numbers so they are dissolving after this season. Munich is going to Langdon, but I don't know where Starkweather is looking at going.

Sad, but this is the world we live in. Wasnt Marty McDonald from there?

Oakes=As I understand it, moving to that district, east of 281, straight line with VC
LaMoure=East of 281, only 11 miles west of the VC-Oakes line

Did you conveniently leave these teams out, or just hoping beyond all belief that big, bad Valley City isn't going to pee in your pool again?

Not at all. Go back and look what was asked for, teams on the WESTERN edge of D5 that may be candidates to move to D6. this is what I answered him with, not sure how the teams you mention come into play with regard to what was asked, considering they are all well east of 281.

To be 100% honest, I will welcome Valley City with open arms when their enrollment drops below the Class B line and I would have 4 or 5 years ago too.

Also, i dont think district alignment will make any difference in 2018, as we will have moved to the super region concept well ahead of that. Yes, I think VC should be part of our super region should that come to pass.

Heimer - I am well past what happenned over 4 years ago. You can keep trying but I am not going to engage in a bavk and forth with you about what ocuured back then.

Yep he was. Lots of good bball teams both boys and girls from those towns and together in the last 30 years. Always seemed to have contending teams up until the last few years.

Heimer, you're the absolute definition of a troll. I'm surprised they still let you have an account on here. Your motives are childish and I have a question for you, aren't your knees starting to hurt for constantly being on them for VC? It is a shocker to me that you don't live at home with mama because I don't know how anyone can take you seriously in ANY professional context. You're the lowest common denominator and waste of everyone's time, but before you retort with something like "well, then why are you wasting your time posting about me," I'll tell you why I wrote this. I wrote this because I find extreme pleasure in being blunt with you and calling a turd a turd and you sir aren't a turd even fit for 3-year old girl. Now, I know I'm being a hypocrite by sinking to your low, low, low, low level...BUT sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire and that felt GREAT to get off my chest. I'm done now.

Since Heimer gave us a thread, let's make use of it.

Interesting race to the finish.

Ellendale 2-1 (11-5)
Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier 1-2 (7-9)
Barnes County North 0-3 (1-15)

Upcoming games:

February 1: Barnes County North @ Medina/Pingree-Buchanan
February 4: Ellendale @ Edgeley Kum Montpelier
February 4: Medina/Pingree-Buchanan @ Lamoure Litchville Marion

My knees feel just fine, as my record will show I don't beg for anything. I would ask about your mental health, since you have to look yourself in the mirror each morning and convince yourself that our current system is so wonderful, when it clearly isn't, all evidence being accepted, of course.

Oh, wait, that's right, in your world, where the sky is pink and the sun rises in the west, we don't need to take into account all of the evidence (regular season scores, parochial involvement in regional semis and title games year in and year out), we only take consider the koom-bye-yah of the final three rounds of the state tournament, where we pump up the numbers by inviting back anyone who ever won a title in anything to show how many people really care.

I will take great pleasure in watching Valley City go back where the forethought of the NDHSAA Board of Directors put them. It will vindicate them, and show the folly and backwards thinking of those that muscled us back 30 years.

Should be a fun tournament as well as the Region 3. Hopefully everyone is healthy come tournament and will get to see some great games. As far as Heimer is concerned there is a term in behavior modification called planned ignoring when people exhibit on-going unfavorable behavior, I think that may be the solution here.

there is another one in "The Language of Letting Go" which anyone could use towards anyone (including Heimer) or he could also apply to the past with VC and that is "detaching in love".... :D

In my opinion, I could see Oakes moving back to Region 1 (District 1) if/when Valley City is added to the mix. Oakes moving back would seem logical especially with Milnor & North Sargent nearing a coop because of low numbers among the two schools.

3 way tie for 1 seed in District 5 between LLM, MPB and Ellendale at 3 and 1.

LLM beat MPB 82 to 66
MPB beat Ellendale 66 to 65
Ellendale beat LLM 65 to 61 OT

If TB is points differential, LLM is 1.

If it is anything else, I am not sure who has the edge.

Overall records are:

LLM 11 and 6
MPB 8 and 8
Ellendale 12 and 6.
