well the Top 8 are deceiving because the Hoopster's Top 8 includes the 8 predicted region champs ranked. So...honestly the top six look good...insert Rugby around 7 for sure IMO. Region 5 & Region 8 are going to be the weaker (but likely more balanced) regions this season. Regions 2, 6 & 7 will be fun to watch. Regions 1, 3 & 4 should be clear favorites walking through...but we know this doesn't always happen; just the way it looks now.

Will someone with the Hoopster post each region-district rankings? The state one never matters because its just by region. Thanks.

Jack I completely agree on New Town. My pick for Region 8.

Really disappointed in the Hoopster this year! Lots of misspellings/wrong names and things. Don't even go to the schedules, they are all wrong, I think they used last years. I think they need a better proof reader.

Cavalier at #5 makes sense to me ...with Laxdal in his second year I think they climb the ladder

As stated above Beulah, Flasher and Parshall are listed there because they're picked to win their region. I think region 7 is a toss-up of the top four teams (Beulah, Hazen, Trinity, and Heart River). I could argue any of them winning the region or finishing in the middle of the pack.

Why Heart River? Just curious.

Kuderna, and they return as much size as anyone. There aren't a lot of elite players in the region, Kuderna might be.

It will be interesting to see how he handles being "the guy". Last year teams couldn't key on just 1 person from HR.

I think he'll handle it fine. Region 7 doesn't have many shut down defenders, and you will be surprised by how many of his teammates will step up when this happens they have a lot of good talent coming up from their program that didn't see much time last year because of all the seniors. I always made sure I drove down from Bismarck to watch these guys.

Was not saying he wasn't a good player at all. I just wonder how he will react to being their best player on the floor. All of the other people returning played JV minutes according to the hoopster.

They really didn't lose that much talent. Their best players were underclassmen. They will be tough to stop this year as long as everyone keeps their heads and stays out of trouble. That can be said about most teams though.
Region 4 will be a pretty easy one to call this year with 4winds being the favorite. I see carrington and NorthStar being in the mix, but the lack of leadership and experience will be their downfall.

The real question is what is the Top 20 in the Book...and of those 20 teams rank the top 10. Since the Top 8 are the 8 predicted region teams to go to state...

I wish they would rank the top 40 without regards to region (Ex the rate the 1's from each region 1-8, then the 2's and so on...) because there are some regions 4-6 seeds that would be better then some regions #2's

St. john will be another team in the mix. after they lost jay early in the season some younger kids stepped up and they finished 2nd in the district tourney and 4th in region..lost to Carrington by a last second shot in the 3rd place game..but they only lost 1 starter and return there 3 leading scorers and 2 all district players in the younger jay and langan..they are experienced and will should be a solid team this year

I'd be pretty surprised if Milnor doesn't start the season ranked #1.

i dont think new towns got anything this year...i talked to some of the starters for the parshall boys and this is what they say...after all, both places are only 15 miles apart and the guys play amongst each other all summer...likewise for the new town girls...3 of their starters left...but of course it's only a pre-season poll and if new town wins the district I'll pre-pay dinner for you and a guest at your favorite Minot restaurant or at 4-bears casino... :)

Sounds good cntrfthrs see you feb. 1st pharshall plays new town in new town the district should be clear by then. As for the girls yes they did lose three starters but they still will be ok. IMO post ur top 8 in region 8 and we will see who is closer by the end of season. For fun
