I don't know if all of those teams will be top level teams in the state, those are the teams I feel that will compete for a region title.

Region 7

1. Hazen
2. Beulah
3. Trinity
4. Heart River
5. Hettinger/Scranton
6. Killdeer
7. Mott/Regent
8. New England
9. Richardton/Taylor
10. Bowman County
11. Beach
12. Glen Ullin/Hebron

Schwab,

You think New England and Hettinger/Scranton will be better than Heart River? I know Hettinger/Scranton had a ton of youth so I could see that. Didn't New England lose everyone but that one tall, skinny kid though??? Lol...coming from the guy that gets accused of being their coach, will they be any good? Not arguing, just wondering! I was planning on being on board the Cougar wagon this season, if New England will be tough though, I'll stick with them!

That said, I think by season's end the usual top 3 will be there, Trinity, Beulah, and Hazen.

Run, I was told in Region 8 New Town is going to be really strong.

Yes I really do, my top 4 in the region would be Hazen, Beulah, Trinity and H-S. New England will be good, Heart River will be good as well.

From what I saw this summer...

Region 8: Newtown/Tioga
Region 7: Hazen/Heart River
Region 6: Rugby/DLB/Westhope Newburg
Region 5: Shiloh/Flasher
Region 4: Four Winds
Region 3: Linton HMB/LMM
Region 2: Cavalier
Region 1: Maple Valley/Milnor

I would say if everyone stays healthy Four Winds will be tough to beat.... Played well and beat some A schools in ND and SD.... but that's why they play the games.........

How? Trinity lost all of its good players. New England dominated their summer league. Hazen beat Killdeer by 7 and killdeer had no subs. Who outside of Ty Zetner will score for Mott? And Hettinger-Scranton is overrated. (No offense to any players or coaches. I'm just being honest.)

I will admit I'm not as familiar with R7 and R8 as I am with the rest of the state. I know that Hazen is going to be very tough you have them at 6. No matter what Trinity lost they are still going to be in the hunt. Also I don't see how H-S finishes that low. IMO

The only person I saw that stood out to me for H-S was Sadowsky.
Trinity will be in the hunt but I don't know if they can win the region.

Region 7 is the deepest region in my opinion though. So there is a great chance that these teams could swap around by the time ball season starts.

So NDFBall, fill us in on Region 7 since you seen teams this summer.

Who does Beulah, New England, Trinity, Heart River (I know they have the real good senior guard that plays quarterback for them, and also a really good frosh that I watched play 7th and 8th grade ball last year, that's my neck of the woods) Killdeer and Hazen have? Who played in the summer league you talk about? Is this the one in Hazen?

I struggle believing Hettinger/Scranton won't be really strong, I know at times last year on their team that had plenty of success, they only had 1 senior on the floor. That said, I'm not arguing, I just want to learn more about the upcoming season, give me a breakdown on those top teams if you know a lot about them!

When does the Hoopster come out? Have to be pretty soon, right?

Beulah will be a deep bunch. They won't have as much height as last year and not as much top end talent. Lots of new faces to the varsity rotation. Same with Trinity, they beat Beulah's JV last year, I expect these two to be evenly matched. Kuderna is fun to watch from HR but I worry that he may struggle being the focal point of opposing defenses. Like a lot of teams this year, HR lost a lot of talent to graduation. I'm looking forward to seeing if Killdeer and Richardton can show some marked improvement over last year.

I would guess the region plays out:
Beulah
Trinity
Hazen
Hettinger-Scranton
New England
Mott-Regent
Heart River
Killdeer
Richardton
Glen Ullin-Hebron

Don't know a thing about Bowman County or Beach. Not sure where they'll fit in.

The sky is the limit if DLB gets consistent backcourt play. With all-state player Holte, the Lakers have a "go-to" guy but how much help will he get?

Chris Duke is a pretty good player in his own right.

So now, since most of these teams won't get a chance to play each other this year, let's compare a little cross-regionally. Seems like at least a little bit of agreement on most regions. How do the best of the best stack up? Coaches will have to do it come tournament time, anybody want to venture a little pre-hoopster power poll? I am no where near educated enough to try, but some out there I know are.
