Wathne was probably the 6th or 7th best player in Region 2

Bentz just didn't impress me

I would take Lovchik who I think was the biggest snub
Chrest
Carr
Peltier over both those guys in a heartbeat

Kris Wathne does not belong on this list. He only made it because he was region 2 POTY. I love region 2 but it was horrible this year.

on a side note, one of these players wasn't district senior athlete of the year, but is on the list. The player that was senior athlete of the year isn't on the list.

Yes. Not surprised to see Lambert on there. I thought Peltier would have been as well though. Somewhat understandable that Lambert would be picked over Peltier. He brought his team to state, while Peltier's team had a better supporting cast and did not make it. One might think that Lambert was not voted POTY in part, because he and Peltier are close in talent, but he transferred and Peltier did not.

Peltier and Lambert are in different districts, Lambert wasn't POTY in his own district.

I think it was Schreiner. Is that correct? Either way, I think it is the same situation.

Iverson from Grant County was the District POTY, I'm not saying Lambert isn't all state caliber, I just found it very interesting.

My bad, I really need to pay more attention that region.

I thought potential All State caliber players from that area were Lambert, Peltier, Iverson, and Schreiner. Lambert had the most team success. Not sure if many people outside of that area know who Iverson or Schriener is. Peltier may have been known a bit, as I believe he was rostered when Malzer and Singer were playing. But I understand the Lambert pick, as he brought his team to state multiple times. I do believe he was left off of POTY because of "off the court activities" as well as his transfer.

If you break NDSHAA training regulations during the season are you allowed to receive postseason individual awards?

Region 3 got snubbed, I would take Olson or Meiklejohn over Bentz (he didn't impress me at state).

I would take Mikey Jacobson of South Border over both Olson or Meiklejohn from Region 3.

If he had a full season, yes. Stinks that he sat half the season but I think that's the reasoning for him not receiving any awards. Tough break for a senior.

I feel like Carr should be instead of Lambert or Wathne.

I do feel Carr should have been on there. If we want to talk about a Rugby player, I think you can make a pretty good case for Heidlbaugh as much as Lovcik. I'd say they are about a toss up, but I really respect the way Heidlbaugh can control a game with his inside presence. Don't see that too much.

I know you love Heidlbaugh, I also think hes a great player and will probably be on here the next two years. But if anyone from Rugby was going to make it it was going to be Lovcik. Fact is there are about 5-6 guys that would tear Wathne and Bentz apart that didn't make this list.

Holte and Bussman are the only underclassmen on the list, correct? And both juniors?

It's definitely not the first time that's happened. It won't be the last.
Flip wrote:If you break NDSHAA training regulations during the season are you allowed to receive postseason individual awards?

That would affect Mr./Miss Basketball, but not All-State.

haha nuts ya ur right

1. Syris Jenson
2. Austin Markel
3. Garek Droog
4. Austin Contereas
5. Christian Lunde
6. Ryan Chrest
7. Brock Robbins

Might even put
Messner and Sheielberger ahead of him

Wathne played in one of the weakest districts in the state and his out of conference games were just as weak. Nice numbers but against who?

Packers 21, you make it seem like District 4 was one of the best in the state and District 3 was the worst. In real life, District 4 was slightly better than District 3. Just slightly. Both were in the bottom fourth for worst districts in the state. There is absolutely no way that there were seven better players than Wathne in District 4. If there was some consistent scoring around him this year, GCC would have been a top 2 team in the region. You put Billy Engel on that team and they work through to state. Probably finish ever better than eighth. Don't judge one player poorly because he didn't play in a top district.
