Lot of talk lately on 1,000 point scorers. Congrats to every single one of them! They deserve all the credit they can get. That means they put in countless hours and hours of hard work over their high school career. Takes a lot of dedication for that. I am the only one that thinks that? Been to a lot of region 7 games this year, especially Beulah. Them kids put in a lot of time and effort!

So who's on the list, or who's really close?

2,000
Hagler?

1500
Adam Peltier-believe I read his name in the paper the other day for just over 1600.
Grande- Would think he is close

1000
Ellery Bresnahan
Trevor Zacher
Jacob Volk
Jesse Hettich
Taylor Zentner
Britton Bussman

Not sure where Lambert, Haselau, Lavacheck fit into this category

Carr went over 1000 against Shiloh. Probably about 1100 or 1200 when he finished.

Jeff Illies (W-L) is around 1800 points.

Wyatt Mund (Milnor) sits at 995 points right now so he'll go over 1000 at State.

Eric Bachmeier (Kindred) went over 1000 points on Jan. 19th vs. FCT

Thomas Lindgren (Enderlin) went over 1000 points in their Region Qualifier

Jeff Illies (L/W) finished with 1832 points and 903 rebounds. He became the all time leader in both of those categories in both schools record books.

Kyle Lovcik, Rugby, got his 1000 point against DesLacs in regionals. Not bad for only playing 2 1/2 years of varsity!

And to think New Englands coach thinks that '1000' point milestones are a joke. live by Beulah and heard he tweeted some stuff.
These kids put in a lot of time and effort to achieve this!

1000 point milestones are great accomplishments. They are certainly not a joke.

However, I will say this: there are more 1000 point scorers than there used to be. Due to declining numbers of participants in basketball at any given school, it is more common for younger athletes to begin their varsity careers at an earlier age. More games = more points.

Also - and I'm just using my own observations on this, I have no hard data - it seems that scoring is not as balanced as it used to be. Where you used to see 3-4 players in double figures in a game you now see 1-2 in double figures and the role players score very little. This could be out of necessity - role players that CAN'T score - or a trending strategy - get more shots for the big dog.

Again, scoring 1000 points is nothing to sneeze at, but it has become more common.

From region 5 I know Brett Schreiner (Senior) from Washburn went over 1,000 early in the season. Taylor Krenz (Junior) from Flasher went over 1,100 during regionals. Have not heard anything on Lambert, but I would assume he has went over it or is really close.
