Who are these serious shooters off the bench for DVE? The only one I can think of is that Littlejohn kid, went from starting to playing maybe half the game if lucky. I feel he could be a huge part of the Titans team next season if he gets into the gym this off season and works hard.

Offensive struggle or a great defensive gameplan by both teams?

Cavalier had an excellent game plan to shut down Schildberger and always seemed to have a hand in the HCV shooter's face. So good defense plus HCV throwing up unorthodox, off-balance shots made Hillsboro's offense struggle. HCV did a pretty good job of plugging the middle and Cavalier air-balled half the three's they took, or so it seemed.

Add all that up and it turns into an ugly game for the offenses.

This is kind of off topic, but how much of an effect do you think Brendan Dufner being out this effect Hillboro-Central Valley. I think a game like last night is one that his absence was really felt. I think his athleticism could really have made a difference last night.

That's a very good question about Dufner. He and Schildberger would have made a formidable backcourt and you wouldn't have been able to focus so much on Schildberger. Dufner would have gotten to the rim and finished better which HCV needed more of all year.

On the flip side, would Schildberger and Meyer have developed into the players they became this year with Dufner on the court? Would Dufner have been the leader they needed when things got tough?

It's hard to say. I do think they would have been better. Significantly better? Good enough to win the region? I just don't know.

I look at it like this HCV's co-op was still a success ........ hadn't the team combined they both would have been in the cellar........interesting to see how they handle losing 8 seniors to next season

I do know one thing.....Cavalier has played the most length....both MPCG and HCV were long and would have posed a huge problem with Grafton had they been in that bracket...Grafton wouldnt have been able to do anything with that Zone D either (it was tight)....Cavalier has had the most rest and Bryce has done well mixing up his line ups........Its truly time to play Tom Foolery for Cavalier....go away from the norm and tool up......

HCV CAN beat Cavalier, but I don't know if they WILL. If Cav comes to play, they win.

Jensen will come up big tonight...third time that he will be facing young Droog......this match up wont be the difference it will be the guards and how freshman Larson (DVE) does......Cory Laxdal (coach) will be the difference in this match up....it will come down to his rotation....they have weapons not being utilized IMO I've seen sneak peeks and there some serious shooters that can come of the bench....

with that said Grafton has speed but there run is over.... Region 2 will have a new Crown wearer this year ..................you will see the Uncle and Nephew coaching dual in the Championship game....till next episode...from the WW... 8)

Oh yea gotta get to the game!!!.. :)

I have a feeling him and Phelps will be the two main scorers next season, I've seen Littlejohn play and I feel he doesn't get the credit he deserves or the minutes he deserves. What do you think?

Littlejohn is who I was referring to Yes........and I agree
Larson will carry the team inside and Phelps will be a great piece to the puzzle

Like you say though .........Off season is critical!....good luck next season

Have to think Cav gets the win tonight. I think it will be a detriment that Contreras scored 34 last night.

I'm not sure why I'm taking Cav over Grafton. The only time Cavalier has beaten Grafton is when Lunde was in Jamaica. But... they were all close games, and I think Cavalier's depth will come into play on night 3. We'll see.

I'm not sure there is any team in any game of this tourney that I would spot 10 points (maybe Cav over MPCG I'd go to 15).

Tourney turned out close to how I thought. Cavalier got Grafton in some foul trouble, and bench depth ended up being a big part of the contest. Congrats to Cavalier. They played a great defensive game against Grafton tonight. A victory well deseved. Good luck at state.

On another note, I will say again, that Engelstad management doesn't even act like they want R2 regionals at the Betty. I wish there was some other venue that would work.
