4:30 Game @ Mayville State University - May-Port CG vs. Larimore

May-Port CG defeats Larimore 42-32

MPCG: Harpestad 9, Bradner 8, Baldwin 7, Nygaard 6, Enger 5, R. Ust, 4, Eide 3
LHS: Hofer 11, Peterson 8, Verkuehlen 6, Wiegandt 3, Grogan 2, Yahna 2

Very defensive, ugly game. Neither team shot well (MPCG 33%, LHS 30%) and both struggled to get any offense going. MPCG outscored LHS 10-2 in the second quarter which basically was the difference in the game.

MPCG moves on to play the No. 1 seed Hillsboro/CV tomorrow at 6:00 p.m.

LHS plays Monday against the loser of the second semi-final which will be determined tomorrow. They play at 4:30 on Monday.

May-Port CG vs. Hillsboro-Central Valley

At the half the Burros lead MPCG 23-15.

Hillsboro-Central Valley defeats MPCG 55-38.

The Patriots made a run late in the fourth quarter, but some big three point shots by Dusty Schildberger and made free throws by the Burros as a team was the difference. MPCG struggled offensively for the second game of the tournament. H-CV advances to the championship game on Monday. MPCG plays a region qualifier game on Monday.

Tyler Sumner (16), Thomas Meyer (13) and Dusty Schildberger (11) led the Burros in scoring. Harpestad (13) and Enger (10) led the Patriots.

Griggs County Central vs. Hatton-Northwood

Griggs County Central DEFEATS Hatton-Northwood 64-52.

Kris Wathne was too much as he had another big night (25 points, 8 rebounds) for GCC leading them to a 12 point win over the Thunder. GCC won the first three quarters (13-10, 11-7, 23-18) and tied the Thunder in the fourth (17-17) to come away with a 12 point victory. The Thunder looked to be buried early in the second quarter down 30-17 but responded with a nice run that kept the game close and within reach. Down the stretch Wathne and Hunter Engel were too much for the Thunder to handle. Engel had a nice game with 19 points and 6 assists doing a nice job orchestrating the offense.

GCC moves on to play H/CV in the championship game on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Mayville at the Lewey Lee Fieldhouse.

#5 Larimore vs. #6 Hatton-Northwood - Region Qualifier, Loser Out game

Hatton-Northwood leads Larimore at the break 28-25. Jace Pederson sat most of the first half with foul trouble, he picked up his third in the second quarter. The Thunder did get 7 points from reserve Adam Braaten. Braaten hit two shots from the inside and knocked down a three-point shot from the corner for some needed bench production.

Larimore DEFEATS Hatton-Northwood 55-48

With a 40-30 lead midway through the third quarter it looked like the Thunder were heading back to the Region 2 tournament. The Polar Bears outscored the Thunder 25-8 from that point on, including a 20-6 advantage in the fourth quarter. The Polar Bears were led in scoring by Trevor Verkuhlen (14), PJ Peterson (12) and Brayden Hofer (12) in the game.

The Patriots were led by Drew Harpestad's 24 points (5-of-12 shooting) including 11-of-12 from the charity stripe. Bennie Bradner followed with 10 points. John Baldwin scored 8, and Ryan Ust, Hamilton Enger, and Brady Nygaard scored 7 for MPCG. Thompson made a run late but didn't have enough firepower to make a comeback.

MPCG moves on to the Region 2 Tournament as the #3 seed, Larimore will be the #4 seed.
