District 12 Matchups and Bishop Ryan's New Head Coach

Postby lioncrazies » Sat Feb 09, 2013 3:20 pm

First off, Scott Medalen, Ryan's coach of nine years, has been relieved of his duties. Bishop Ryan's Head Coach for the remainder of the season will be Tyler Ystaas. He won his first game as Head Coach against his old team, Velva, on Friday night.

The pairings are as follows

(1) Des Lacs-Burlington vs (8) Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood
(4) Bishop Ryan vs (5) Surrey
(2) Lewis & Clark Berthold vs (7) Glenburn
(3) Our Redeemers vs (6) Kenmare

Games start at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, at the Minot Municipal Auditorium.
I expect all of the higher seeds to win.

I agree the higher seeds should win but I wouldnt be shocked to see Kenmare upset Our Redeemers. They have some dudes that can flat out score.

That's funny because I actually thought the same thing earlier. If I had to pick on upset, it would, by far, definitely be Kenmare over ORCS.

Read the Minot Daily article to get a sliver of the story.

The only thing I'll say is that this was not parents forcing him out.

In Medalen's final game as coach on Tuesday, the Lions dropped a 56-34 decision to Our Redeemer's Christian School - their first loss to the Knights under Medalen.

Medalen didn't dress several varsity players in the game and started just one regular starter.

I think it had to have been something pretty severe to let him go with 1 game left. Most times, you would just wait until the end of the school year and not hire him back.

It was actually their first loss ever to ORCS, according to Adam Lawson's postgame report.

It actually wasn't their first loss. ORCS beat Minot Ryan in 2002. It was Medalen's first loss to ORCS and the second for the boys program.

ORCS had Lance Allerdings and Jesse Kizima that year.
