If we put together a region by region all star team how do you think the regions would stack up 1-8?

Region 7 All-Star team would be very tough to beat with Carr, Volk, and Zacher

Lovcik isn't even the best player on Rugby's team - Heidlebaugh is better in almost every part of the game. Lovcik does play very, very hard (high motor) but little discipline. He can be out of the control and make poor decisions (passing, shot selection, defensive gambles) - but, don't get me wrong, I'd still be happy to have Lovik on my team.

I got to see all of rugby's games in the CNDC tournament. I'm not sure they have a true top 15 player. It is hard to say who their "best" player is. Lovcik and Heidlbaugh are totally different types of players. Lovcik is much quicker and more effective in the open court, while Heidlbaugh is very accomplished in setup type offenses. They have good balance and are getting good contributions off the bench. These are Rugby's strengths. I don't know how it will play out as the season progresses, but they are a fun team to watch.

Heidlbaugh is a Stud. Not flash, but a Stud. Would start on most Class A teams and lead them in most stats. Lovcik is a very good athlete

Thought we could open this conversation back up now that we've had a good look at all the player's. Who are your top 10-15 from each region or the whole state?

I haven't seen all the regions so I'll just weigh in on the one I've seen the most of:
Region 7 starting 5
PG: Cody Nelson - Beulah (would put Hettich here instead of Nelson if these were top 5 players of this region but goes in the starting five as best PG, though he plays a lot of wing too)
wing: Jacob Volk - Trinity
wing: Trevor Zacher - Beulah
post: Isaiah Marschner - HR
post: Isaiah Binstock - Trinity

wing/6th man: Jesse Hettich - Beulah
wing: Stetson Carr - Hazen
post: Kubic - Trinity
post: Noah Iverson - Beulah
wing: Tyson Kuderna - HR

With Zacher and Volk, I'm not sure you need a point guard. I would put Hettich in instead of Nelson. I haven't seen Marschner play, so I can't say on him. Also, Austin Cieslak from Hazen needs to be at least on the bench. He's a beast inside.

I'd put Zentner and Kristy on this list for sure

Region 7

typical starting 5

Taylor Zentner- MR
S. Carr- Hazen
J. Volk- DT
T. Zacher- Beulah
I. Binstock- DT

Bench

J. Hettich- Beulah
J. Kubik- DT
C. Nelson- Beulah

I. Marshner HR
N. Iverson- Beulah
J. Good- DT
S. Kristy- H/S
S. Evinuk- HR
B. Fischer- Bowman

Head Coach and Defensive Coach: G. Grinsteinner- DT
Assistant and Offensive Coach: J. Brandt

I stopped at 14 because I thought that represented a clear line to be drawn and there are too many good players that are "tied" for the 15th spot in my mind. I also think there is a clear cut separation between the top 8 on the list and the lower 6 on the list.

I think the starting 5 would remain consistent unless facing an opponent with a huge banger inside. In that case, Kubik starts instead of.... someone... to fill that need.

The state is full of awesome ballplayers. But when I look at the top 8 on the list, I have my doubts that any one region could put together a roster to play with these guys.

Region 1

Ellery Bresnahan - Central Cass, Sr. (1,000+ point scorer...unreal speed)
Jordan Haseleu - Maple Valley, Sr. (1,000+ point scorer...smooth shooter)
Jordan Funfar - Oak Grove, Sr. (3 point sharp-shooter)
Jeff Illies - Wynd-Lidg, Sr. (1,000+ point scorer...can score inside and outside)
James Richman - Maple Valley, Jr. (6'7" - needed size on inside)

Britton Bussman - Milnor, Jr. (6'4" guard with great shooting skills)
Wyatt Mund - Milnor, Jr. (6'5" backup post...good shooter)
Tyler Christianson - Oak Grove, Sr. ('Guard' with great rebounding tenacity)
Alex Widmer - Oak Grove, Sr. (Slasher with great speed)
D'Angelo Burns - FCT, Jr. (Smooth player...1,000 point scorer?)
Eric Bachmeier - Kindred, Jr. (1,000+ point scorer...6'3" guard that can cause issues)
Matt Workin - Richland, Jr. (Good shooter...6'4" Forward)
Austen Archer - FSHP, Sr. (6'3" post with good strength...just went off for 42 points...having a good season)
Daniel Lindgren - Enderlin, Jr. (Can easily penetrate the middle of lane to get his shot)
Kayne Griffith - Richland, Sr. (more for his speed and defensive tenacity)

This would be a pretty solid team and likely one of the fastest 'teams' in the State, IMO

Region 7

S. Carr - Hazen
J. Volk - Trinity
T. Zacher - Beulah
J. Hettich - Beulah
I. Binstock - Trinity

C. Nelson - Beulah
T. Zentner - Mott/Regent
J. Kubik - Trinity
I. Marshner - Heart River
S. Kristy - Hettinger
A. Cieslak - Hazen

I'm not very diplomatic is my picks. My starting five is what I consider to be the best five players. Also, Carr and Zacher can both play point. I'll also take Brandt as the head coach with his preasure/trap defense with the size of that starting lineup.

There's not too much to be diplomatic about in Region 7. You could combine Beulah's and Trinity's starting 5s and blow out an all-star team from the rest of the region. I think Carr and Zenter are the only two from other teams that belong in the conversation with the top players from Beulah and Trinity. The best of the best from the other teams are just rounding out the roster.

I think Thomas Lindgren from Enderlin deserves to be on this list. He is solid in the post (15 ppg) and is a great defender! He held the above Archer to just 8 points, Mund to 9, and Christainson to 8. JMHO

Thomas Lindgren is a good ballplayer...I was just more impressed with Daniel's play the three nights I've seen Enderlin play.
