I haven't listed to the radio shows myself, but second hand, I heard that the comments were:

North Star can only score on layups in transition
North Star doesn't play defense
North Star's 8th graders aren't ready for varsity playing time.

I wasn't at the game, so I don't know how they got their scoring, but even if they only scored layups, that's still better than not being able to score at all.
If a team can only score 18 against a team that doesn't play defense, what would they do against a team that DOES play defense?
The 2 8th graders that aren't good enough for varsity playing time came off the bench and almost outscored the entire opponent team by themselves. (16 to 18)

(just saw the scorebook. NS scored 18 pts on 3-pointers. Equal to M-S total output (6 2-pointers, 6 FTs)

From what I heard and in Munich/Starkweather's defense, they had many players sick.

and from what I heard, it was only one starter, who was averaging well under 10 pts per game. (lot of B-squaders out, though. No b-squad game was played because of it)

I didn't see the game. How did they keep the score so low? Did they press? Step up on the defensive side? Or is MS just that terrible?

They played only half court defense. But a lot of pressure after that. MS got one shot on offence, NS rebounding was great.

New rankings after recent results....

1. North Star
2. Four Winds-Minnewauken

3. Carrington
4. Harvey - Wells Co (Carrington drops and HWC moves up a lot after the upset last night)

5. St. John - no longer in the upper tier after losing Jay for the year
6. Lakota-Adams-Edmore
7. New Rockford-Sheyenne

8. Rolette-Wolford
9. Langdon
10. Munich-Starkweather
11. Benson County

(Teams 8-11 have all played close games this season and are pretty equal. Will all battle for the #4 spot in Dist 8 )

12. Midkota
13. Rolla
14. Warwick

What happened with Carrington and HWC? Has Harvey improved that much or was Carrington playing short because of sickness or injurty few names were missing from box score for Carrington. This sure upset district seedings and couple games left with few upsets like this 2 to 4 teams could be alot different before season end. It could set up for a different region tournament than what people thought couple weeks ago.

I watched this game on BEK and Carrington just never seemed tyo get into a rhythm, which I credit HWC with. I got the feeling that Carrington thought they could just turn it on at some point but this never really materialised, although they did make a run late. Burnham wasnt getting many good looks in the paint. Houchin impressed me with his play on both ends. I thnk Carrington is the better team but didn play like it. HWC is good though, no doubt about that. I also saw Carrington play Lamoure LM earlier this year and they didnt look like the same team and again I think you need to credit HWC.

Looks like then that district is starting to tighten up. HWC had just played Lakota AE and they won the game by one and LakotaAE was ahead at most of the quarter stops so it looks like were getting tightening up in competition level. Four winds still winning impressively at the top and in District 8 Northstar is still winning impressively. If not for Northstar and Fourwinds this region would be really close region across the
board competitively. Probably not as competitive as statewide but sure would be fun region to watch when anyone could just win it by getting hot.

Current Standings from Run4Fun2009

District 7
Four Winds-Minnewaukan 6-0 (14-2)
Harvey-Wells County 4-1 (11-5)
Carrington 3-2 (13-2)
Lakota-Adams-Edmore 3-2 (9-6)
New Rockford-Sheyenne 2-3 (8-6)
Midkota 0-5 (2-15)
Warwick 0-5 (0-14)

District 8 **district records include 2 point games**
North Star 10-0 (14-1)
Munich-Starkweather 6-2 (7-7)
Rolette-Wolford 6-3 (7-8)
St. John 5-4 (11-3)
Langdon 4-4 (2-13)
Rolla 0-8 (0-15)
Benson County 0-10 (4-11)

I do not think that NorthStar will have a problem in District 8, I think Munich/Starkweather,Rolette-Wolford, and Langdon will round out the representatives for District 8.

Four Winds should have a little rougher path in District 7, I think Carrington beats Harvey in the tourney, and New Rockford rounds out the top 4.

Northstar plays Carrington on Saturday, and New Rockford on Tuesday. I think these games will show where everyone stands in the Region.

My Predictions
Northstar
FourWinds
Carrington
Harvey

Northstar will cruise to the region semifinal night where I predict they play Carrington and have a bit of a tougher game, but still win easily enough.

If Four Winds doesn't get upset in the district, they have the easiest road to the region championship where I think it will be a great game with Northstar.

I've got Carrington, Harvey-WC, and LAE in that order to round out Dist 7. St John, RW, and BC in order for Dist 8. If St John ends up with a 4/5 seed they could be in trouble. If they make it up to 2/3 I see them in the championship with Northstar.

First 3 games only. I've never gotten around to getting the other games up, but I've had other people ask for them, too, so MAYBE I'll get around to it this weekend.

I dont see anyone is Region 4 touching them. Haglar and Grande just wont let it happen.

I am back and I am going to predict FW-M by 5 points!

I have to agree with packers on this one. Although FW-M is a great team, I just cant see Hagler and Grande letting NS lose. Especially in regionals.

Not even a stretch that that could happen, in my opinioin, IA. NR is an interesting match-up (even though NS managed to handle them in Cando) too. What's the key to the Indians winning a potential rematch with NS?
