I think Midway Minto should be ranked higher. They really haven't lost anyone from last year.

They could easily be switched with H-CV (injuries may hurt H-CV's BB season) or at least NB & M-M could move up

1. Cavalier (only thing that could keep them out of state tourney is themselves)
2. Grafton (it's a cliche but they re-load, they don't rebuild)
3. North Border (depends on how beat up they are from football)
4. Larimore (their front line is big and mature)
5. GCC (younger Engel will step in nicely for his graduated brother)
6. H-CV (if 6'5" Hurt comes back from injury they could finish higher. Dufner is out for the year)
7. Midway-Minto
8. Dakota Prairie
9. MPCG
10. Thompson
11. DVE
12. H-N (major rebuilding)
13. PRFL

c'mon when was the last time Cavalier was a huge preseason favorite and failed to make it to the state tournament?

1. Cavalier- Return a lot
2. Grafton- Lost 3 really good players, but they will be there at then end
3. North Border- Brandon Anderson will be tough to stop, have some nice younger players too
4. Midway-Minto- Bring back everyone, great coach
5. Dakota-Prairie- With the injuries to HCV, I think they are the team to beat in d3
6. Hillsboro-Central Valley-to many injuries hopefully Hunt will return
7. May-Port-CG- Return a lot, should be a return for regionals for them
8. Larimore- I like their size inside, but not much for guards or shooters
9. Drayton-Valley-Edinburg- 3 great players back, but need some young guys to step up
10. Hatton-Northwood-Rebuilding good sophomore class coming up
11. Griggs County- Wathne will be tough but I dont see much else there
12. Thompson-Rebuilding couple years away from a great team
13. Park-River-Great freshman and sophmore classes on the way

Players to watch:

Messner - Dakota Prarie
Pederson- Larimore
Hofner-Larimore
Wathne- GCC
Jace Pederson- Hatton-Northwood
Ust- MPCG
Hunt- HCV
Anderson-North Border
Volk- North Border
Chrest- Cavalier
Both Robbins- Cavalier
Syris Jenson- DVE (watch out)
Markel-DVE
Keena- DVE
Droog-Grafton
Contreras-Grafton
Lunde-Grafton
Schmitz-MM

i am an obvious Grafton fan. i am also a big basketball fan in general. Knowing what grafton lost last year would leave folks to believe that this years team will need to step into unfamiliar terrritory. the kids that will be playing this year had the advantage of practicing against good competition every day in practice. one reason why good programs seem to rebuild year after year.(havin a lot of kids doesnt hurt either) Contreras, lunde, and Droog(now 6'7") will be the foundation for this team. how the new coach gets them and the rest of a good supporting cast melding will be the test. i could see this team edging out cav by the end of the season. tho i think cav is favored for now. I listed those 3 players in my players to watch I also listed them number 2 sayin they will be there in the end. I think Grafton and Cav are both very good teams and NB kind of a drop after that in the region. I also think that Cav 3-8 players will be the difference, I think they are deeper.

District 3
DP
MPCG
Larimore
H-CV
GCC
H-N
Thompson

A month ago I thought H-CV vs. Cavalier would be the region championship matchup but because of injuries it's difficult to see that holding up. It's Cavaliers region to lose.

That's one good thing about Grafton. We've got 8 or so coachs on the bench. We can afford to lose one or two and hardly notice.

It is sad but true. Don't like to see this, good kid lost his senior year of bball hopefully he can get back and play some baseball.

without anderson, who averaged a double double last season, nb will just be launching even more 3s and hope the others step up their rebounding.

Is there any teams in this region that can throw on an effective full court or half court press. This could be a weakness for an few of the top teams in this region and an upset possible. Just curious if anyone has the speed or athletes as a whole to be effective pressing.
