All are Varsity athletes:
***denotes starters at some point during season

**Eric Bachmeier (Kindred) - Sophomore (note: several 20+ point games this season)
**D'Angelo Burns (F-C-T) - Sophomore (note: already had a 43 point game this season)
**Wyatt Mund (Milnor) - Sophomore (note: several double-doubles this season)
**Kayne Griffith (Richland) - Sophomore
James Richman (Maple Valley) - Sophomore (note: monsterous dunk and 16 points vs. Oak Grove this year)
Isaac Olson (Oak Grove) - Freshman
Christian Adams (Oak Grove) - Freshman
Carter Kretchman (Oak Grove) - Freshman
Adam Breske (Central Cass) - Freshman
**Cody Springer (Northern Cass) - 8th Grade

I would add Briton Bussman to this list; he's started for Milnor along with Wyatt Mund and is their 2nd leading scorer behind him on a team that's 2nd in District 1.

Yeah that was a complete miss on my part.

Both Bussman and Mund are very good young players. Milnor is lucky to have them.

I know Benson County isn't a well-known team but I was watching the district 8 tournament up in Langdon and they had a freshman that is a pretty good shooter and defender, shoots mostly 3's though. If he broadens his game, could be a good player in the coming years.

I was at the Pacesetter on Saturday. Hankinson-Oakes had two guys that weren't very tall, maybe about 5'7" or so, but they had muscle definition like juniors in high school. When they wanted to move somebody out fo the way the just moved 'em. Good shooting touch for such muscular kids. I'm wondering if these are any of the kids you mentioned, EHS?

I have to say I was not very impressed with young Thielges. I don't know if he had an off day or what but he did not do much in the 3 games I saw him play. You could see he had skills but he got out-quicked and out-hustled and out-muscled. From what I saw, he is not a varsity ready player. But like I said, it could have been a bad day...

The three that EHS mentioned: Alex Weston (North Star), Isaac Olson (Oak Grove) and Carter Kretchman (Oak Grove); all three contributed quite a bit as freshmen last season on their respective teams.

I think I know those Hankinson kids you are talking about. I know one is Kendrick Lenzen (he is doing very well in track at the VARSITY level). Not sure on the other one but have seen him. They will be very talented but other kids will probably catch up to them in the muscular department. They are just ahead in maturity but still very talented
Remember...there is always a little boy in the stands that wants to be just like you, don't disappoint him.

One of the kids you might be referring to is Ethan Zetocha from Oakes. I watched the 7th and 9th grade tourneys on Sunday.

Anyone know why Carter Kretchman goes to Oak Grove and his brother goes to Davies? Just curious.

That is a loaded question that you are going to get different answers. I think he went to Oak Grove because he was going play sooner than he would at Davis. That is why they moved Kindred a few years ago. He is a bit on the small size and Oak Grove in the long run is where he will have the most sucess IMO.

There's a few guys on the team (Bandits) that Alex Weston plays on that are going to be fun to watch -
Brad Heidlebaugh, Zach Miller, and Tanner Bernhardt - Rugby
Eli Luna - Towner (TGU)

This team won the Great Four State Tournament in Minneapolis last summer and have won the Jr Grand Am and ND Pacesetter Tournament this year.

I really didn't mean for it to be a loaded question but your right, it is. I know the story of his brother moving around - just hadn't heard anything about the younger one until this BB season. I used to teach with their Dad a long time ago but havn't been in contact with him for about 10 years or so. Hopefully this won't start a bunch comments bashing the two kids or their Dad, we have had enough of that on this site in the last 3 - 4 years. (Between this, Linton, etc...)
