I just think Oak Grove will come out hitting their shots. Northern Cass has not played well at Oak Grove in past years (NC's last win @ OG was in the 90s); this one will be closer than most. Oak Grove is always tough to beat at home. This year's team likes to run (which shouldn't be a surprise).

Everyone says Oak Grove won't be very good this year after losing 10 seniors from last year's State tourney team...I think they'll surprise alot of people. They are young, but very talented.

Oak Grove is bringing up three freshman onto varsity: Carter Kretchman, an excellent ball-handler which is Tanner Kretchman's (Davies) younger brother; Issac Olson, who played Freshman b-ball as an 8th grader and is the younger brother of Sam Olson, a high school standout who graduated from Oak Grove in 2010 and played basketball at Concordia in Moorhead, and Christian Adams, who is amazing all-around.

I think one of the main reasons Kindred lost to Enderlin is because there is no Tanner Kretchman. Enderlin also has a strong offensive and defensive player in Thomas Lindgren (averaged about 10 rebounds a game last year, and scored 33 points for Enderlin in a 61-76 loss against Oak Grove.) I am very shocked though that Maple Valley lost to Central Cass by 31 POINTS. It looks like Central Cass might dominate this year.

Carter would be in the same position as his brother Tanner. He should not be able to play varsity sports this year. He just transferred from Kindred.

Carter is eligible because he transferred at a "natural" break with him being a freshman.

OK, just curious... if Carter had played varsity for Kindred last year as an 8th grader, would he still be able to play varsity this year for Oak Grove?

1. Central Cass

2. Maple Valley
2. Richland
2. Kindred
5. Oak Grove
5. Enderlin
5. Northern Cass

8. FSHP
After watching the first couple games of the season this is the order i find fitting
-MV, Richland, and Kindred i feel could go any way but this is the order I feel they finish
-OG, enderlin, northern cass could are also very close teams but i feel they finish in this order...don't know why everyone has been putting enderlin at 7 and 8...they are a decent team and i could easily see them beating northern cass and OG possibly even an upset with MV or Richland

Even though I've seen him play varsity this year, you have a very good point. In my opinion, I think the reason he playing is because he was in middle school last year. I might be wrong though.

Central Cass rolls past Kindred in boys basketball
By: Heath Hotzler, INFORUM

CASSELTON, N.D. – The Central Cass boys basketball team runs so much during games that scores tend to get lopsided, junior varsity players regularly get quality varsity minutes and referees get winded.

Yes, even the officials are wondering how the Squirrels keep it up.

Such is life in the fast lane.

Matt Zimmerman had 25 points to lead No. 5 Central Cass to a 79-41 North Dakota Class B, District 2 victory against rival Kindred on Thursday at Central Cass High School.

“Kindred is a big rival,” Zimmerman said. “We had a full gym. We just wanted to do what we do. Put on a good show.”

The Squirrels (12-0) put the pedal to the floor from the start, bursting to a 20-6 first quarter lead.

Zimmerman led the way with seven points in the opening frame, but Central Cass’ depth was evident throughout.

Guard Ellery Bresnahan found open teammates and hit open shots, Josh Roesler chipped in with a few buckets, and the Squirrels combined to hit eight 3-pointers in the game.

Kindred (8-4) couldn’t get out from under the thumb of Central Cass’ athletic defenders.

“A key coming in here was to limit their transition baskets, and we obviously didn’t do that,” Vikings coach Brad Woehl said. “We came out a little sluggish offensively, and didn’t rebound as well as I would have liked. We just have to get better.”

Vikings senior post Jack Plankers, a 6-foot-8 North Dakota State football recruit, was unstoppable on the boards. He scored 18 points – mostly on putbacks – and finished with 21 rebounds.

Central Cass held a 39-18 halftime lead.

The Squirrels continued to go up-and-down the court in the second half.

Central Cass senior Jon Lubbers scored nine of his 11 points in the fourth quarter.

Kindred managed just one basket in the fourth.

Sophomore Eric Bachmeier had 12 points and four rebounds for the Vikings.

Both teams emptied their benches for the final two minutes.

“We like to push the ball,” Zimmerman said. “We are very up-tempo, and that seems to be working for us this year. … Refs get tired, too. They are talking to us the entire time, asking if we always push the ball this much. We condition really hard in practice, and you can tell by the third and fourth quarters that teams are really worn out.”

Kindred 6 18 35 41

Central Cass 20 39 52 79

KINDRED: Bachmeier 3 4-6 12, Reinke 2 0-0 5, Plankers 9 0-1 18, Holland 2 0-0 5, Moffet 0 1-2 1. Totals: 16 5-9 41.

CENTRAL CASS: Bresnahan 7 2-3 19, Sundquist 1 0-0 3, Ieland 2 0-0 4, Roesler 3 3-6 9, Zimmerman 9 5-7 25, Lubbers 4 1-1 11, Ebach 2 2-2 6, Breske 1 0-0 2. Totals: 29 12-19 79.

3-pointers: Bachmeier 2, Reinke, Holland, Bresnahan 3, Sundquist, Zimmerman 2, Lubbers. Total fouls: K 17, CC 12. Rebounds: K 36 (Plankers 21), CC 36 (Zimmerman 7).
