ehh no, 3 of them can play. The rest will ride the bench and watch the Freshman play.

I would agree that there are 3 seniors that will be impact players. I would be surprised if there are 8 seniors on the roster. Do they have any juniors or sophomores that could be important?

I believe it will a dogfight in the WDA with Minot and Mandan battling all year for the top spot. Century and Bismarck will close behind. I would agree Johnson is best inside player in the state. Mic Longtin is by far best guard in the state. It comes down to supporting cast for these two players. Almost like Coyle and Werner.

WDA kicks off Dec 9th, is this correct ? Not sure about EDC. Good luck to all the teams, should be a great year for girls highschool basketball.

That's fantastic!! I'm from Fargo but if nobody would volunteer I would be happy to do that for you!

The season is fast approaching, I just read a disturbing article about a middle school preseason game in which the score was 100-2. Needless to say I don't think any games are going to be near that lop-sided in the EDC this year. I think this year will be very exciting and extremely unpredictable. It will be fun to watch!

Don't forget that Johnson also has big-time range beyond the arc.

I saw Johnson play at state and she definitely has the range but I wondered if she spent too much time out on the perimeter. She is also one of the biggest players on the floor and her team struggled to rebound and get inside shots in the games that I watched because of the fact that she spent so much time outside.

I agree. When I saw her play this summer at NDSU she didn't paly as well as I heard she could.

But in all fairness, IMO the summer travel isn't nearly as focused or intense. I am sure they are working on different things etc

I heard that Johnson might be out for awhile due to a stress fracture, is this correct?

I heard it was going to be at least 6 weeks from state volleyball so that would put her not playing until January

In the paper today it said she is looking to play her first game on Dec. 28 against Red River.

West Fargo just killed Davies by the looks of the box score and what the paper wrote. Anybody at the game? West Fargo definitely looks like a contender early on but I thought Davies would have at least been competitive.

Davies had an off night from what I was told and west Fargo was hitting on most cylinders after a slow start

Season is half over.... Thoughts, Suprises, Comments.....

West Fargo, Shanley, and Red River sit atop the EDC....

Red River is a nice suprise, they are playing very well. The second half should be interesting.

It does feel like there are the three teams on top and then everyone else. The number of wins Red River has is very surprising although from what I have seen they will only continue to rack them up as they challenge for a state title. Very well-rounded athletic team.

West Fargo vs. Shanley tonight will decide the EDC #1 seed however. These two teams both have what it takes to win the state championship. The way Rachel Weir is playing should put her in the conversation for Player of the Year. West Fargo seems to win a different way every night, so they are tougher to figure out and perhaps game plan for, but they shoot 40% from the 3 pt. line and that is a big point of separation between them and the rest of the league.

Wf beats Shanley 51-39

Shut down defense by WF was the key.

Tonights game between West Fargo and Shanley was a tough defensive battle, west fargo looked to wear down stanley in the second half with the defense and wf won 51-39. Having Anderson in the paint for Shanley helped keep points off of the board from West Fargo. It almost looked like Shanley would run away at the start when they had a large lead to start the game, but WF got in gear and started to put on the pressure.

WF leads in steals in the EDC right now from the top 8 stat leaders and I'm guessing that without those they would struggle against competition with an off shooting night. the rest of the year will be very interesting.

WF plays Davies on Friday for another difficult game

Davies had a rough first half but played with west fargo the second half. Davies is just so inconsistent. The only consistent player they have is Alexis Bolstad. Other than her you never know who is going to step up. They could be a great team if they learn how to utilize the talent they have on their team.

Thats a false statement they start 1 underclassmen and shes a junior and the 3 seniors that don't start come off the bench and play consistent good minutes every game and they only have one freshmen that has gotten varsity time so no their seniors do not ride the bench

Again, Coach Metz from Century has put together a state contending team w/ a roster that didn't seem that strong in the preseason.

WOW, Fargo South lost to Davies a month ago by 49 points... last night the Bruins beat Davies by 9! a 58 point swing since January 9th. What has happened to Davies?

I do not think Brook Hildre played. Not that she is worth a 58 point swing, but she is usually good for about 10 and 7. South shot very well also.
