Devils Lake and North are Wild Cards...and I can see South losing out to one of those two teams.

How do East teams match up with West teams? Is there any disparity between the two conferences or are they pretty even?

basically you don't want to be the #4 seed coming out of the EDC. IMHO, Century is the favorite (heads & tails above others)!

Is Century really that much better than Central and Shanley?! And is there another team from the West that can challenge? I know BHS has beaten them once, and that Mandan has a pretty good record. Are they legitimate?

another possible team is TMCHS-Belcourt...but after last year's meltdown in the postseason...I'm not set on them being at state

Century is a good team, but they can be beat. I am very surprised that they are doing as well as they are. Their coaching staff is doing a nice job.

It sounds like the favorite out of the West is definitely Century... I would have to say (and I am from the East part of the state) that the East is less settled. Shanley and Central are at the top but who knows with South and West Fargo who both have elite scorers who could get hot at any time. If Roehrich and Holland get enough help they can beat anybody in my opinion.

Minot beat Century last night at Century. Century had no post play at all.

So is Century slipping? Or were they over-achieving all year to this point? Is Minot a team to be reckoned with?

Minot looked good. They had great ball movement, and their team is tall. Century wasn't really over-achieving, but I do think that the competition overall is down, and they just happen to have won enough games to be ranked 1st. The State is wide open with no dominant team. I would say Mandan right now could be a team that could make a strong run during tournament time.

After the Minot/Century game, Mandan is #1 in the WDA. I think they will do well at tournament time!

I agree. I see Mandan and Bismarck finishing strong in the tournament. Century, Minot, and TM will fight for the other 2 spots.

Bismarck high taking century behind the woodshed. Bismarck up 49-25 with 13 minutes to play.

Anyone have a final on the Bismarck/Century game?

Bismarck won by 12 or so. I don't remember the final score. Bismarck won 58-52 in the boys game.

Bismarck won 65 to 54. They were up by almost 25 or 30 points at one point in the 2nd half, and Bismarck played good, but not great. I believe Mandan won the WDA season title.

It looks like the EDC is much stronger than the WDA, no only according to the polls (4 of the top 6) but also because of the many individual players that lead their teams: they have all been the best in the EDC for three years!!! (Roehrich, Farroh, Holland, Elshaug, Dehne, Kenney, Carew etc....)

WDA teams always come to play when its tournament time. The State championship has stayed with a WDA team for so long because it comes down to great teams and not just great individuals. Fargo South (w/ 5 All-EDC players) learned that 2 years ago when they lost to BHS. All 4 teams (whoever they are) that come out of the WDA will be a strong contender for the State title.

Century vs Shanley would be a nice final game. No dominate teams this year so it is wide open which if fun to watch. Anyone in the east has a chance on a given night. Watched South the other night they need to stay out of trouble or they are in trouble.

So the tournament is set. What to look for?

South REALLY upped the ante at the EDC tournament. They were a different team. I thought they sent a message. The entire team played tough, the reason they beat Central and Shanley was everybody was winning battles, tough rebounds and loose balls were gotten to by South players time and again. And of course Fischer and Roehrich were making big shots. (Roehrich hit two or three DEEP treys against Shanley)

What about out West? #1 regular season seed not even coming? Is there a team playing well coming in? I know Century won the tournament but they did not look good coming in.
